Wed 610pm Yoga Hub Phibsboro Smile I have been a dedicated Yoga Practitioner for 10 years inspired by Hatha, Kundalini and the teachings of TKV Desikachar. I have studied Yoga for since 2009, it is a fundamental part of my lifestyle and I am keen to share my love of Yoga with others. I am also passionate about Somatic Education, I have trained in Gentle Somatic Yoga and am currently completing my Clinical Training with the Ingles Institute. I also work as a Specialist Occupational Therapist for people living with neurological, mental health and long term conditions. I conduct research using Yoga and meditation with individuals following brain injury and have a post graduate qualification in Yoga Therapy. I'm passionate about the healing potential of these ancient practices to supplement and augment traditional rehabilitation. I currently teach Chair Yoga, Gentle Somatic Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Seasonal Yoga and Mindfulness. Private 1:1 therapy classes are popular and are ideal for those working with a specific condition/goal in mind. Gentle Somatic Yoga is a great addition for Yoga or meditation practitioner. It differs from traditional Hatha yoga as asanas (postures) are not practiced with the intent to reach a “full expression” of any given pose. Gentle Somatic Yoga, in contrast, strips all of this away from the outset. It provides corrective exercises and sequences of movement that seem so subtle, and yet it is that subtlety that provides a deep and profound experience(s) of your own anatomy. These techniques, also called Somatic Movement Flows, are designed for a personal exploration of the mind/body connection. Following these Somatic Movement Flows, we can then explore how to further move into traditional Yoga Asanas with more ease and also we can sit in meditation with more comfort. Kundalini Yoga is open to all and students are encouraged to take the practice at their own pace. The practice aims to develop intuition, the ability to listen to what the body and mind needs in the present moment. During the class, mantras (sound vibrations), meditation and kriyas (specific sets of postures) are employed to stimulate the chakra, glandular and nervous system. The class is specifically structured to ensure that the student never accesses more Kundalini energy then they can gracefully accommodate. The class will end with a deep relaxation; where we consolidate the practice and the real alchemy occurs. Seasonal Yoga assists us to live in harmony with nature. Elements of our practice that work for us in the winter may not work as well in the summer and vice versa. We all feel the energy shifting throughout the year and as a result different organs become dominant in different seasons. This deep reflective practice will work with the active organ through movement and meditation. We will explore the physical and emotional balance for the dominant organ through an energizing warm up followed by a Kundalini Kriya or a deep Hatha sequence. Depending on the energy we will either uplift or ground down with meditation to seal our practice. The results of this is a feeling of balance and re energized harmony.
