Last year, Samaritans volunteers and over 500 supporters gathered in the stunning surroundings of Avondale Forest Park for the first Hand of Friendship Walk. Led by the late Charlie Bird, it was a day filled with community. A moment that will live in our hearts forever. 💚

This September, we return once again to Avondale. This time, our wonderful ambassador, Brent Pope, will proudly take up the mantle and lead our walk.

Mark your calendars for the Samaritans’ Hand of Friendship Walk 🍂🌳🍁

The Samaritans’ Hand of Friendship Walk returns this September 28th at 12 noon.

📍 Avondale Forest Park, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow

Inspired by the late broadcaster Charlie Bird, and now led by Samaritans' ambassador Brent Pope, this year’s walk will bring together volunteers, families, and supporters from across the island of Ireland.

What to expect:

✔️ A scenic 5km route along the River Avoca

✔️ A shorter, 1km fully accessible walk

✔️ Live music on the lawn after the walk

✔️ Dog-friendly & family-friendly

This will be the first time Samaritans volunteers from all 32 counties come together in person to remind everyone that we are always here to listen 24/7, 365 days a year on free phone 116 123.

💚 The event is free, open to all, and requires no registration.

Just bring good walking shoes, family, friends (and maybe the doggies!), and join us to extend a hand of friendship.

Save the date. Spread the word. Walk with us.
