Phoenix Counselling would like to extend a warm welcome to the business page. We are a Dundalk based professional counselling and psychotherapy practice, which serves Dundalk and the surrounding area of Co. We understand that for each individual seeking to understand their own personal issues can be a very daunting and sometimes lonely process. At Phoenix Counselling we
aim to support and guide you through this process by providing a professional, safe and confidential environment in which these issues can be explored. You do not need a referral when seeking to come to counselling, all that is required is to make contact with us. Where you will be connected to a fully qualified and accredited counsellor/ psychotherapist. Barry Watters is an experienced qualified therapist, with a BA (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP) Dublin. He has also studied counselling at the University of Ulster where he gained a Foundation Degree in Counselling. He is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Barry has over ten years experience working face-to-face along with group work providing counselling/ psychotherapy to a wide range of clients. Working with adult and adolescent clients of all ages, gender and diversity. He has worked closely with clients dealing with suicidal ideation, addiction and trauma for many years. It is through this work that gives him valuable experience into some of the most common issues brought to therapy. Working as an integrative practitioner he uses a blended approach to suit the individual needs of the client. These approached incorporate various frameworks along with therapeutic methods like humanistic/ person cantered, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. All of which are deployed in a supportive environment where emphasis is placed on the relationship between the client and therapist. This is cultivated on trust, empathy, genuineness, compassion and unconditional positive regard. Counselling is offered on a short-term and a more long-term psychotherapy bases where required. The fee is typical €60 per therapeutic hour session which consists of 50 minutes face-to-face time with the therapist. In certain circumstances a sliding/ reduced fee may be considered depending on finances, this can be discussed at the end of the first session.
