Great post ... shop local.. rethink your Christmas shopping!
And for now again, we trade from the hatch..
Last night as the numbers were announced, I decided that once again Bakealicious must shut it's door and trade from our hatch as a precautionary measure to keep my staff, my family and I safe.
I am fortunate enough that I have built a business that is able to trade online, adapt to the different levels of this pandemic and have such an amazing community base supporting us not just in Navan but now nationwide.
I am hoping my business will see this pandemic out and if it doesn't, it's not from trying, working as many hours as I can to keep it afloat, having extremely supportive staff, friends and two amazing parents. As an SME, the truth is, we can't afford to have a positive case and have to close for two weeks.
But think, before you go and buy all your Christmas presents from a global organisation like Amazon, look to see if there is an Irish business who can provide you with the same or probably products.
Going online and shipping cake nationwide saved my business, allowed me to rehire my staff, create new jobs, stock our shop with products from other Irish businesses who are doing the same and let me grow Bakealicious to be stronger to survive this time.
We are generating money to be put back into this economy to pay for all this when the time comes to repay all Ireland has borrowed to keep businesses and Irish jobs afloat. If independent businesses have to close permanently, our high streets and towns will become extremely grim places.
We are still all in this together and everyone's actions, no matter how small, have a large rippling effect.
For now, see you at the hatch, still serving delish bagels, slices of cake and of course coffee using Minor Figures Oat M*lk
