Today I have had 4 visits from a beautiful butterfly 🦋. Symbolism is important in our lives and particularly when we remember our loved ones who have died. Often the butterfly is a symbol of a visit from a loved one, perhaps because of the change its goes through while it develops in to a beautiful creature. We should not lose sight of symbols and the meaning it carries in our lives.

Preparing for our end of life can evoke so many thoughts and emotions. We will all experience death in the same way that we all have experienced birth. I look at how we are born being totally dependent on others, normally those that love us. In death we wish for the same to be cared for and carried to our place of rest. The similarities are not only how we are physically cared for but also that both are a celebration of a life beginning and ending as we know it. Just as we plan for birth, we can also plan for death. As an end of life Doula, I journey with you and feel very privileged to be able to so.

My name is Gary and I am an end of life Doula. Put simply I am there to help with the planning of your end of life. This may be very practical things such as how I want to be remembered and my end of life celebrated. It can also be help with coming to terms with my life's ending and how I can die well. My training as a social worker and mediator also contributes to my work especially when we are trying to help our loved ones to also be at peace. My work is voluntary and if you wish to make a donation that is ok. I will always try to be able to travel throughout Ireland when i can. My base is in West Clare.
