🌼 Weekly Round‑Up at Cahercalla 🌼

It’s been a fantastic week of celebration and activity here at Cahercalla.

We celebrated three birthdays, including a very special one for our Activities Supervisor, Jessica. Warm wishes again to her and to all our birthday residents who made the week so joyful.

Our residents enjoyed a brilliant mix of activities — including a great moment where one resident had huge fun kicking the football around the room, giving everyone a good laugh and plenty of encouragement. We also had outings for shopping, a lovely lunch, and a trip to the cinema.

A highlight of the week was the launch of our very own Mobile Library, bringing books, stories and excitement right to our residents’ doorstep.

And of course, our much‑loved four‑legged friend visited, spreading comfort and smiles throughout the home.

A wonderful blend of celebration, activity and community spirit.

We’re looking forward to a lovely Easter weekend with our residents and families.

Good Friday
Liturgy of the Word with Gerald Lynch at 2.30pm in the Chapel.

Easter Sunday
The Easter Bunny will be delivering eggs, followed by our Easter Evening Tea Party at 3pm in the Conference Room.

Easter Mass
Easter Mass will take place on 7th April at 3pm in the Chapel.

All are very welcome to join us as we celebrate together.

🍀 What a Week of Celebrating at Cahercalla

What a week it’s been. From creative crafts and gratitude projects to baking, music, dancing, and plenty of St. Patrick’s Day fun, our residents and staff filled Cahercalla with colour, joy, and community spirit.

Every room had its own moments — quiet creativity, shared laughter, festive outfits, and the simple pleasure of being together. These are the days that remind us how special our community truly is.

Thank you to our wonderful residents for their energy and smiles, and to our dedicated staff for making every celebration meaningful.

Our residents had a fantastic time at today’s pop‑up shop, hosted by the wonderful Maggie Cronin.
There was great energy around the room as everyone browsed the rails, chatted, and picked out a few favourites.
It’s lovely to see how much independence, confidence, and simple enjoyment these small events bring to the day.

🌼✨Today we celebrated a truly special milestone — 30 years of dedicated service from our wonderful colleague, Dympna 💙. Her kindness, compassion, and steady presence have shaped our home for three decades, and the residents absolutely adore her. Their faces always light up when she arrives with her dog, Freddie 🐾 — he brings just as much joy as she does.

We marked the occasion with flowers 💐 and a beautiful cake 🎂, and the Board were proud to recognise Dympna’s exceptional commitment. On their behalf, she was presented with a gift voucher 🎁 as a token of appreciation for her loyalty, care, and the many years she has devoted to our community.

Dympna will be retiring at the end of April 📅, and we look forward to coming together again for a full celebration to honour her remarkable contribution.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve had a blast with various activities that brought joy and connection! Here’s a quick look:

• Book Reading: Participants enjoyed beautiful stories and images, sparking imagination.

• Chocolate Dipping: Everyone had fun dipping marshmallows in chocolate—delicious!

• Arts and Crafts: Creative hands made colorful decorations, adding cheer to our space.

• Pet Therapy: A sweet dog visit brought smiles and comfort to our residents.
