This time last year I made the upsetting & difficult decision to close the doors of my much loved little play centre in Ennis after only 3 years open due to the hike in our insurance after a claim was put in against us.
At the time time we couldn't even shop around for insurance as just one company would even touch us for cover & they were the UK based leisureInsure. This of course also meant that no matter what price they quoted us year after year, we would have to try pay it to keep our doors open as there was no other insurance company that would take us on.
I have woke up this morning, a year on to see LeisureInsure are now pulling out of insuring many playcentres, bouncing castle companies & many other leisure businesses with an estimated job loss of 4,500.
This is what it has come to due to the claiming culture in our country over the last number of years.
Sad day for many business owners.
The insurance crisis has escalated after one of the last firms covering the leisure sector pulled out of the market. The move puts thousands of jobs at risk.
