The anticipated new Widex ‘Allure’ hearing aid had its launch last month and is one of a new range of technologies being launched this year !

Looking after Hearing Aids

The ear canal is a very hot environment and our ears can produce sweat and perspiration. This can be a big problem for hearing aid users and can cause issues, such as intermittent performance and/ or corrosion to the amplifier within the hearing aids.

Below are a selection of products, catering for all budgets, which help maintain the quality and life of your hearing aids. They all act as dehumidifiers which absorb moisture from the hearing aids. From The basic version, which uses a drying tablet which sits alongside the aids in a drying tub to the most advanced version allows you to charge your aids on their charging unit, within the dehumidifier.
As our temperatures (hopefully!) start to improve this issue can become more relevant.

We still don’t know what causes Alzheimer’s disease. We’re all very familiar with what it is, though, because it’s so common. Around 1pc of us will develop it and that’s only going to get worse, with the number predicted to at least double by 2050.

Even though shooting season is coming to an end, here is a timely reminder to always protect your ears from excessive and/ or prolonged exposure to noise, especially if you partake in a very loud activity such as hunting or clay pigeon shooting.
Noise induced hearing loss is one of the types of hearing loss I see every day and there is a way of minimising the risk of this type of damage.

Always protect your hearing where possible! We had a customer in looking for ear protection for when he is shooting and he gave a lovely review on the 'Phonak Serenity Choice Hunting and Shooting' ear plugs.
