ENNISCORTHY EVENT ON SUSTAINABILITY IN FARMING AND AGRI-BUSINESS...
A Sustainability Cluster event focusing on practical, commercially grounded approaches to sustainability, from grain markets and input efficiency to soil health and water stewardship, rooted in real on-farm experience across Ireland, will take place on Tuesday 27th January (6pm–8pm) at GreenTechHQ, Enniscorthy, where pizza and refreshments will be provided!
Key Speakers:
Walter Furlong Jnr – General Manager, Cooney Furlong Group
Walter will share a market-led agri-business perspective from across grain, machinery, and fertiliser operations. His contribution will focus on decision-making across production, trading, sales, and input optimisation in a volatile agri economy.
Cheryl Poole – Dairy Farmer & Sustainability Champion
Overall winner of the Copa-Cogeca Innovation Award for Women Farmers 2025, Cheryl will discuss practical water stewardship at farm level. Her talk will cover science-led, on-farm measures that protect water quality, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen sustainable dairy systems.
Don Somers – Tillage Farmer
Winner of the Teagasc FBD Environmental Sustainability Award 2025, Don will speak about soil health as the foundation of profitable tillage farming. He will outline how nutrient planning, organic manures, and crop rotation reduce waste, cut costs, and build long-term resilience.
