It's almost mid-summer and the world feels ever-fragile for so many people and species. Nonetheless this short eco-poetry film celebrates the life in the rare, species-rich meadows that still exist in precious protected parts of Ireland. It's a tribute to all who live in them, and all who protect them. May such pockets of place remain safe as we voyage onwards.

In advance of tomorrow’s Winter Solstice, December 21st, I’m delighted to share this poetry-film that celebrates the day and marks this very special time of year. You may not be able to get out into the landscape tomorrow to feel it’s stillness, but if you’d like to spend a few quiet minutes communing with the significance of the day, then do put the kettle on, make a cup of tea and watch this.

The film was made in association with The Source Arts Centre, Thurles, and it has a beautiful score by Enda Gallery.
