During 2024 Health Action Zone Community Health Worker Oisin Hennessey and music therapist MA Siân Brown led a songwriting workshop with the members of the Farranree Singing for the Brain group and the Farranree song was born.

The members practiced this song and later recorded it in the Farranree community hall with Manor Studio Cobh.

On the 28th of November '24 the group launched the song with a CD and live performance in front of friends, family and the Lord Mayor of Cork Dan Boyle who really got into the spirit of the healing power of music!

Delighted to share photos from the Farranree Singing for the Brain Ireland group CD launch which was held on Thursday 28th November, with The Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Dan Boyle on hand to officially launch the CD.

The CD features their own original 'Farranree Song' plus a cover of well known Beetles song 'All you need is Love', a poem by a longtime member and soundbites about why they love this group. This was all done under the expert eye of their musical facilitator Siân Brown.

If you want to find out more about the Farranree SFTB group contact Oisin Hennessy, Health Action Zone Farranree & Fairhill Community Health Worker on 0873896982

Did you know that Singing for the Brain is also available ONLINE???

Singing for the Brain online is delivered in a very similar way to a face-to-face session with a friendly check in, physical warm up exercises, warm up vocal exercises, canon songs and a sing along.

So if you really enjoy singing as part of a group but can no longer attend in person, why not join in the fun from the comfort of your own chair on Tuesday afternoon from 2:30pm-4pm. Please contact Mary on 087 4622616 (mornings) to register for this online group. If you need assistance with getting set up online this can be provided to you.
