From Monday 6 October, Galway City Council is accepting online applications for the Community Action, Inclusion, Regeneration, Development & Environment (CAIRDE) Grant 2026.

This grant offers financial support for community, voluntary, sporting, social enterprise and business association groups to deliver projects that enhance local communities and improve quality of life.

All applications must be submitted online https://submit.link/48d by 4pm on Friday 31 October 2025.

Minister Dara Calleary TD has approved funding of €157,300 to prepare the preliminary business case for improvements at Roonagh Pier in Co Mayo.

Roonagh Pier is the mainland pier used by ferry services to and from Clare Island and Inishturk.

The Minister made the announcement following a meeting with Island representatives in Westport.

Unbelievable stuff from Fiona Murtagh in Shanghai over the weekend as she won a Gold Medal in the Women's Single Sculls in a hotly contested battle. We couldn't be more proud!
