Dr. McCormack has morning and afternoon surgeries most days. If you phone early in the morning, you can almost always be guaranteed a same day appointm
ent if you wish. Please be flexible in accepting the time offered. We have many people to try to accommodate and cannot always offer your first time preference. Greater flexibility in appointment times exist if booking appointments well in advance. On Wednesdays Dr McCormack teaches in Galway He is Assistant Programme Director on the HSE WEST GP Vocational training programme. In his place, when teaching on wednesdays, Dr Gwen Daly provides a full range of GP services. Out of hours (OOH) emergency needs are delivered through the OOH rota. The rota comprises Drs Feerick (Carraroe), Gillan (Carraroe), Harty (Carraroe & Lettermore), McCormack (Rosmuc). Please only use the OOH rota for issues that absolutely cannot wait for medical reasons until the next open surgery. We do expect people to take time off their work or school to attend for a GP appointments. Proof of attendance can be provided , if requested, for employers but not for schools. Schools accept parental verification. If you cannot attend for your appointment, please phone to cancel so that the time can be offered to someone else. We do not bill for missed appointments but would appreciate advance notice of non attendance, for the convenience of others. Repeat prescriptions (paper prescriptions and or dispensing)
Repeat paper prescriptions for taking to a pharmacy require 24 hours notice to prepare, review and verify appropriateness. This work is done outside of surgery times. Surgery times are for seeing patients face to face. Repeat re-dispensing of labelled medications requires 7 days notice. The medicines can then be collected from front desk. Please collect medications before lunchtime on Fridays. No dispensing fee is charged. If you cannot wait the 7 days for the actual medications, a paper prescription can be issued, once again with 24 hours notice.
