Sruth Yoga is founded by Caoilfhionn de Bhaldraithe. The word 'sruth' means stream, current or flow 'as Gaeilge' and denotes the flow of energy, breath and movement which the practice of yoga incorporates. It also refers to the flow state which is accessible through a regular yoga practice. Caoilfhionn’s first yoga class was with Laragh and Dave Cunningham of The Yoga Shala in Galway in 2007, and
she later began to attend regular Ashtanga yoga classes with Fiona Hynes of Ashtanga Yoga Galway. As a former dancer, Caoilfhionn was immediately drawn to yoga’s fluid dance between movement and breath but it was the therapeutic effects on her mind, body and soul that kept her coming back to her mat. Caoilfhionn completed her 200hr teacher training in Vinyasa Yoga and her 300hr Advanced Yoga teacher training with Carol Murphy of Green Lotus Yoga. She has also trained with Puja Sue Flamm and Kitty Maguire in Restorative Yoga which focuses on supporting the menstrual cycle for women. In addition she undertook a training which focused on Accessibility in the yoga community through Inclusion and Chair Yoga with Claire Osborne and Molly Nixon of the nonprofit organisation Yoga Mandala Project, who work specifically to support refugees and survivors of trauma. Most recently, she completed a 100hr Yin Yoga teacher training with Grace Tempany of DubYin Yoga, and a Children’s Yoga teacher training with Melissa Curtis in the Elbowroom, Dublin. As a primary school teacher, Caoilfhionn incorporates yoga and mindfulness into her teaching in the classroom to help empower children with tools to manage anxiety, stress and emotional challenges, and to access their inner calm, confidence and resilience. Caoilfhionn’s classes offer a safe space for all students to connect with their bodies and breath, to build physical and mental stamina and strength, to release tension, to focus inwards, to find stillness and to slow down.
