Here's a post I never thought I'd be writing 🙈 and even now, I'm hesitant...because I've still got such a long way to go...but f**k it, I'm always telling my members to celebrate every win, so here goes 😁
Just before Christmas last year, I started a new journey. For probably the 100th time, I started my Bronze body magic (Slimming Worlds activity programme) I never fully completed it but I made a pact with myself that this time would be different. I made a decision to see it through. And I did. Through simple walks initially, then boosted with activity videos on the SW app, and our wonderful SW circuit class at Killannin Gym with my lovely Killannin members every Saturday 😃 I achieved my Bronze award in January, Silver in February and Gold in April 🥉🥈🪙
Feeling my confidence (and fitness levels!) grow, I decided to step things up with 1:1 PT sessions in May. I can't tell you how nervous I felt to begin, I have always found gyms so intimidating but the friendly environment and guidance from was the real turning point in my journey and it's the best investment I've ever made in myself. I can now walk into the gym with confidence, I know the machines, I know how to make my work outs truly effective and I'm really starting to have belief in myself ✨️
I now work out 4 days a week. I have a great routine. I love feeling strong. I have a whole new mindset. I feel amazing after each session. I've learnt that consistency trumps motivation every time. You have to choose to show up for yourself. It's a form of self care and self love ❤️
I really hope this doesn't sound preachy - anyone who knows me will know that's not my style 😊 but I thought I'd share this because
1) I was so grateful to get back to the gym this morning
2) I felt so good after my workout and it was such a beautiful morning, that I went for a walk straight after...testament to the mental health benefits of any exercise!
3) I'm actually f**king proud of myself 🥰
4) hopefully it might give someone else the little boost they need to get started...build slow steady steps...you've got this 💪❤️
