EpiSafe

EpiSafe Epilepsy Monitor and Alarm System Epilepsy is a debilitating condition that affects approximately 4% of the world’s population.

A major concern for both individuals diagnosed with epilepsy and their immediate family is the associated vulnerability and potential danger posed as a result of the sporadic nature of epileptic seizures. This can have a serious impact on the quality of life of all concerned and more importantly can have a detrimental effect on the ability of the individual with epilepsy to live an independent life-style. Our unique solution involves the development and production of a unified epilepsy monitoring and alarm system called ‘EpiSafe’. Our concept is the amalgamation of modern hardware and software design for the purpose of continuous, non-invasive monitoring for the manifestations of an epileptic seizure. Our product fulfils this purpose by collecting and processing sensor data related to the user’s blood oxygen level and heart pulse rate and motion. The user wears the device on their wrist and as it is wirelessly paired with their mobile phone, it allows both monitoring and triggered emergency alerts to user selected individuals or services in the event of an epileptic seizure.
