Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common childhood illness that can also affect adults. It is highly contagious.

The symptoms usually clear up by itself in 7-10 days.

The baby vaccine schedule in Ireland is changing. Babies born on or after 1 October will be offered varicella (chickenpox) as part of this new vaccine schedule. If your baby was born on or before 30 September 2024, follow the current vaccine schedule.

Childhood vaccines are free and the safest way to protect your baby against serious illness.

Our GP Partners Dr Aisling Hillick & Dr Aileen Faherty attended the Inaugural Conference of the Menopause Society of Ireland held on Saturday in the beautiful Mansion House, Dublin. They are both registered members of the Menopause Society of Ireland and Dr Aisling Hillick is also a member of the British Menopause Society.

The conference afforded a fantastic opportunity to our GP’s to engage with their fellow practitioners, learn from exceptional speakers and gain new insights on supporting our female patients through perimenopause and menopause.

Our GP’s have been working hard establishing patient centric Perimenopause and Menopause consultations and care.

Free Contraceptive Service Update

The HSE Free Contraception service has now been expanded, as of today, to include ages 32 to 35.

To access free contraception you should:
•be aged between 17 and 35 years
•live in Ireland
•have a PPSN

**You do not need an medical card to access this service**

What costs are covered?
•GP appointment: to speak with your GP about the contraceptive options available to you or to repeat your contraception prescriptions

•Contraceptive prescriptions including LARC devices

•Fitting and removal of Implants, IUDs and Coils

• Any check up or follow up care required relating to your Coil or Implanon

• Emergency Contraception

MMR Vaccine Update:

Due to a significant rise in Measles outbreaks, we have been reccomended to advise families travelling abroad with babies aged 6 months to 11 months to get an additional MMR vaccine.

To arrange an a Pre-travel MMR vaccine for your child, please contact the surgery on 091-740340.

The Irish College of GPs has urged families travelling abroad with babies aged six-eleven months to get an additional MMR vaccine due to rising incidence of measles cases across Europe.
