Taking Action for Whole Health & Wellbeing is coordinated by the Student Health Unit in collaboration with The Copeland Centre. This is a co-facilitated group process that supports individuals in creating a personalised system for recovering, sustaining, and/or improving their whole health outcomes and enhancing their lifestyle. It is for anyone who wants to make a positive change in their lives.
Some of the essential elements are:
Self-esteem, hope, empowerment, self-determination, education, connection and self-advocacy.
-Building a Strong Support System
Personal Resources and Community Inclusion
-Wellness tools, skills, and strategies for whole health and wellbeing
-Developing Action Plans for Triggers, Early Warning Signs, Difficult Times
-Crisis and Post Crisis planning.
-Wellness Topics: Meaningful Activity, Motivation and Lifestyle
Taking Action for Whole Health and Wellbeing takes place over two days at the weekend in the University of Galway. There will be two facilitators with approximately 15-20 other students. Students have identified the element of peer connection as a very important and enjoyable part of the process. We aim to create a comfortable environment for all participants. The main requirement for acceptance on the course is that the student feels well enough at the time of the course to participate over two days. We aim to check in on wellbeing and answer any outstanding questions with all applicants on the week of the course. Following completion of this course, students have the option of attending Creidim, the peer support group that takes place every Monday during term time between 12-2 in the University. (Venue T.B.C)
