I’m delighted you’ve visited my page and are interested to know more about me and the services I offer. Galway, I am a fully qualified and extensively experienced counsellor that works with people on an individual basis and also with larger organisations. I work as a relationship counsellor in private practice and with Accord; with Guidance Counsellors including the facilitation of their
groups; as a Life Coach; and with organisations to deliver programs, training and seminars. I have had difficulties in my life and I know what it is like to be disappointed, lonely, angry and sad. I have experienced loss and trauma and have come to regard these experiences as opportunities for growth and development. Today, my learnings, skills and life experiences play an important role in giving my clients confidence and hope and I am proud that I have helped many people to identify goals and work towards achieving their hopes and dreams. I am caring, person-centered and understanding and believe in the ‘talking cure’. Medications can be effective in the short-term but issues cannot be resolved until they are clearly identified and worked on. Importantly, I am realistic and help my clients set achievable goals that they can work towards and reach with confidence. Mine is a non-judgmental and nurturing environment that will support you to achieve your goals. As an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator, I have an ideal personality for counseling. I focus on the future and live in the present. I value close relationships. I am idealistic and I believe in the ability of people to grow and change for the better. I recognise the skills that clients bring with them and I help them build on these. How does my service work? I use different forms of therapy including CBT, Gestalt and Person-centered therapies. I use stories, metaphors and myths to illustrate states of mind which are particularly useful in helping my clients to gain a better perspective on their issues. I am good at expressing myself and have strong language skills that help my clients and I get to know each other and develop trust and comfort in our sessions. I also work with clients to develop better communication skills and use a range of the latest resources including Ted talks, journals and online tools. What training do I have? My widespread training includes diplomas and certificates in Jungian Psychotherapy, Gestalt, Person-centered, Family Systems, Sand Therapy and the Psychodynamic approach. I continually participate in further study and training and keep up-to-date with advances in the fields of Neurology and Psychology and their application to Therapy. How can you find out more?
