Solas Anois offers a number of different therapies which promote holistic health and well being in both children and adults. My most recent achievement is a distinction in Reflexology, to add to the services offered at Solas Anois. Further plans are in progress which I hope to share with you in due course
Having qualified as a Child Protection Social Worker in 2004 I spent the first 2 years of my career in the very multi-cultural Borough of Haringey in London working in Children’s Services; in both Family Support and Child Protection Teams. This was an eye opener as well as a significant learning curve for me being from a quiet village in Co Limerick originally.
On relocating to the North of Ireland in 2006 I continued my career in Childcare; assessing children and families in need of support, services or at times protection.
During this time both personally and professionally I have seen a lot of hurt, pain , loss, trauma, birth, death and unfortunately abuse; of a physical, emotional, sexual or neglect nature. Children removed from their families, brother and sister separated, families torn apart, abuse of vulnerable adults and sadly lives lost.
I suffered a period of poor health due to work related stress and had to take time out to re-build and nurture myself. Taking a break from the modern fast pace of work and ‘unplugging’ made me realise how much I had forgotten my roots and the reason why I entered the profession in the first place. To support, enable and assist the individual and their families to lead a better and more fulfilling quality of life. I have learnt so much about myself and the world we live in during my career and for that I am grateful, as it has made me the person I am today.
Having the opportunity for self care during this time made me realise how much we take for granted; family, friends, children, community, mother nature, the earth, life, light, love, faith, kindness, hope and positive intentions. This is when the area of meditation, alternative holistic therapy, and positive mindfulness as part of everyday health and wellbeing was open up to me; and I can tell you that it has been a slow and steady enlightening journey which I feel I have to share with others, both children and adults.
I have maintained my social work registration with CORU (Health & Social Care Professionals Council) as I wish to continue to support those in need. I have gained valuable knowledge, skills and training during my social work career and want to give back some hope to those who have lost it. Everyday is a new journey and learning experience
Life is a journey which crosses the life span, from cradle to grave. The ability is within each and every one of us to bring to realization of who we are and what our purpose in life is to fruition. Sometimes we just need a helping hand, which is what I would like to be.
Please remember there is nothing more effective and transformative than using your very own power of thought to bring positive changes in your body, mind and soul. How to manage the everyday trials and tribulations with a different perspective, have more patience and understanding, love the life your in! If you love what you do, then you can do it with love!
To friends old and new and to the ones I have not met yet! The kettle is always on, drop in, drop me a line, reconnect. You are welcome to my new world and I would love to share it with each and every one of you.
