Photos don’t match the caption (apologies 😂). It’s my last official week as a preschool teacher. I have worked in education since 2011. Some thoughts as I near the end of this career 👇🏼
•We are not paid enough. It’s well-known but let me stress we are NOT paid enough. I’m including all educators here, the preschool teachers, primary and secondary teachers and SNAs. Most educators I know (myself included) have to take on 2nd and even 3rd jobs to kinda sorta make ends meet.
•You lose your voice a lot!
•People say after the first year of educating you’ll have a super strong immune system. I’m yet to experience this 😂
•There are many stressful moments but they don’t compare to the magic moments 💕
• A word of comfort to parents, you really are leaving your kids in good hands 💕
I’m looking forward to the next phase of my career but I am sad to leave this one. I’m sad that I simply cannot sustain working 3 jobs and still can’t make ends meet. Educators and schools are particularly feeling the strain at the moment. The government has a lot to answer for. I’m going to miss the joy and the craic of working with children 💕
