Jenkinstown Pharmacy is part of the ‘The Medicine Shop Pharmacy’ ; a duo of family-owned, independent community pharmacies in Co. Led by supervising pharmacist, John O’Callaghan, our dispensing and front of shop teams are determined to provide service with a difference. John’s family is steeped in serving the community of the Cooley peninsula. His late parents, Oscar and Nora, opened the family pharmacy in Carlingford in 1961. After their retirement John ran this shop for 20 years before taking the same ethos that established a strong community bond to the current shops in Jenkinstown and Omeath.

Due to the ongoing extreme weather and road conditions brought by Storm Éowyn, we have made the difficult decision to keep both Jenkinstown Pharmacy and Omeath Pharmacy closed for the entire day. The safety of our staff, many of whom travel from neighbouring counties where the red weather warning remains in place, and the well-being of our community are our top priorities.

Currently, we are also experiencing power outages, with no clear indication of when electricity will be restored. We understand the importance of being available for your healthcare needs, and we will reopen tomorrow, between 9am and 5pm.

⚠️ Important Notice: Temporary Closure Due to Status Red Weather Warning ⚠️

Due to the weather warning tomorrow morning, both Jenkinstown Pharmacy and Omeath Pharmacy will be closed for the safety of both our staff and customers. We currently plan to reopen at 2:00 PM; however, if the warning is extended, we will remain closed until it is safe to resume normal operations.

If you have any urgent prescription needs, we kindly ask that you visit the pharmacies today to ensure you have everything you need ahead of the closure.

Irish data suggests that a GP sees on average between one and three cases of shingles per month, with over 80 per cent of these cases in patients aged over 50 years of age.
