As the breeding season continues, we remind all breeders to remain vigilant and ensure EVA testing is carried out before each cover. Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) can spread quickly during breeding, so regular testing is essential to help protect stallions, mares, and the wider horse population. Responsible testing helps keep the breeding season running smoothly and safeguards the health of our horses.

Foal diarrhoea can develop quickly during the early weeks of life and identifying the cause as soon as possible is key to protecting both the foal and the wider yard. Our Foal Diarrhoea Panel helps investigate common infectious causes through comprehensive laboratory testing, with fast turnaround times to support timely veterinary decisions. If you have a foal showing signs of diarrhoea, speak with your vet about submitting samples to us for testing.

We’re delighted to share that the Irish Equine Centre has received funding from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) through the Equine Technical Support Grant.
This support will enable us to undertake a comprehensive study investigating antibody responses to parasites in horse cohorts across Ireland. The research will help strengthen our understanding of parasite exposure and support improved health management for horses nationally.
We’re grateful to DAFM for supporting this important work and look forward to sharing insights from the study as it progresses.

🌱 Before you buy, be sure it’s right. 🌱

Pre-testing forage before purchase is one of the simplest ways to protect your horse’s health and performance. Visual checks alone can’t tell you everything — nutrient balance, hygiene and hidden risks like mould or dust all matter.
By testing forage in advance, you can:
✔️ Ensure consistent quality
✔️ Match nutrition to your horse’s needs
✔️ Avoid costly health issues later
✔️ Buy with confidence and peace of mind
Good forage isn’t just about availability — it’s about quality. Test first. Feed smarter.
