We are pleased to be offering our Stud Farm Hygiene Package to breeders for the 2026 season. This scheme has proven very popular with Thoroughbred breeders over the last number of years. The aim of the scheme is to help in the prevention of enteric and respiratory disease in young foals and to minimise environmental impacts on fertility for the coming season. The scheme provides information on the hygiene status and pathogen burden of key communal areas of your establishment as well as assessing water quality and an in-depth forage analysis comprised of hygiene check, zearalenone screen, nutritional analysis and mineral analysis.

This package is heavily discounted and we are delighted to be working with again to provide this package at a further discounted rate to ITBA members.

🐴 Important Update for Vets & Horse Owners 🧪
New regulations on equine wormers are coming into effect from December, 2025. From this date, all anti-parasitic treatments will require a veterinary prescription, aligning Ireland with EU standards to combat resistance and promote responsible medicine use.
This shift highlights the critical importance of diagnostic-led parasite control — and that’s where we come in.

Reminder to all Mare Owners

As we look ahead to the 2026 breeding season, the IEC would like to remind all mare owners of the importance of adhering to international codes of practice for equine breeding. To safeguard the health of our horses and the integrity of breeding operations, all mares should be tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) prior to covering. Maintaining compliance with international standards not only protects your own stock but supports the broader industry in ensuring disease-free breeding environments and continued freedom to travel and trade.

Today we celebrated Halloween with a Bake Sale to raise funds for the Kildare Animal Foundation! 🍰🧁 Everyone showed up in full support of a charity dear to our hearts, dressed to impressed and with delicious baked goods in hand. Another wonderful day to work at the Irish Equine Centre! 🐾

We were delighted to work with the Irish Equine Centre to provide testing and advice to all competitors at the Grand Final of the Foal Championship & Loose Jumping on October 2nd.
The final and collaboration with the IEC was funded under National Breeding Services, with thanks to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Congratulations to Giorgia Monti on winning the British Equine Trade Association (BETA) Equine thesis of the Year competition. Giorgia's topic was 'Diagnostic validation of an indirect ELISA for the Detection of Equine Arteritis Virus (EAV) antibodies for screening purposes' which was submitted as part of her final year undergraduate thesis. Giorgia works in the Irish Equine Centre's Virology laboratory and we are all absolutely delighted for her.
