*About Me*

My name is Michelle, I’m the Osteopath and owner here at the Modern Body Clinic.

Since as long as I can remember, becoming an osteopath is all I wanted to do.

I played plenty of spots and competed in Irish Dancing from a young age and picked up plenty of minor injuries throughout that time. Thankfully never anything too serious. But, having spent time rehabbing those injuries and always being curious about the human body. It seemed the perfect fit !!

I thankfully got to study with some of the very best Osteopaths between Ireland and the UK in ICOM in Cork.

I then set up the Modern Body Clinic, I love helping people reduce their pain and give them the resources to ensure it doesn’t reoccur again. (I also love the chats 🙄😂). Apologies in advance!

I do consider myself extremely lucky to have a job that I genuinely adore.

**LATERAL ANKLE SPRAIN**
Ankle sprains are quiet commonly seen in clinic, they usually occur when someone "rolls" or "twists" their ankle.
Lateral ankle sprain is much more common as the ligaments on the outside of the ankle are usually weaker than the inside.
Usually symptoms include:
🔷 Pain
🔷Swelling
🔷Feeling of unstability
🔷Bruising
🔷You may not put weight on it
Depending on the grade 1-3, we can treat the sprain effectively using many techniques such as:
🔷Massage
🔷Dry Needling
🔷Electrotherapy
🔷Strengthening Exercises

Back pain is one of the most common injuries I see every day in clinic
It is also one of the leading causes for time out of work.
There can be many factors that influence back pain, therefore finding the root cause ie, which muscle, ligament, joint etc is very important.
With the use of manual therapy, such as massage, dry needling, electrotherapy, mobilisation, stretching, manipulation and strengthening exercises we can help reduce your pain, increase your range of motion and most importantly get you back doing whatever it is you love to do.

📚 The Hamstrings are a group of muscles that run along the back of your thigh.
‼️ A hamstring injury occurs when these muscles or tendons are over stretched causing a tear or strain.
‼️ They usually occur after sudden explosive movements but can also occur gradually over time.
Rehabilitation is key 🔑 to reduce the risk of reoccurring injury. With the use of physical therapy we can speed up the healing process and get you back to the pitch ASAP.

**Are you at a desk all day? **
The most common complaint we see these days in clinic is neck and shoulder pain, usually caused my prolonged sitting at a desk that is not best suited for the individual, driving long distance etc. (There are many other cases).
This may cause rounded shoulders which will put a strain on the trapezius muscle at the back and shorten the pec muscle at the front. This can also lead to tension headaches 😪
Thankfully though, it's easily treated 😊 With some deep tissue massage, dry needling, stretching and manipulation (once safe to do so) we can really improve the symptoms and give exercises to reduce the risk of any injury reoccurring 😀
