Happy Chinese New Year!!! 2024 is the year of the dragon and with it is said to bring good luck and prosperity. The dragon has so many meanings in Chinese culture, but bravery and courage in searching for happiness and positive change are at the forefront for the year ahead.

It is never easy to take the first steps when making a change but having a positive support group for being successful is essential. Surround yourself with positive role models and reach our for help when needed.

Wishing everyone a bright, beautiful, and prosperous 2024!

Happy new year! 2023 is the year of the rabbit, specifically the water rabbit. The water rabbit is associated with gentility and mercy, who couldn't do with some more of that in their lives?

Those born in the year of the water rabbit are said to be lucky with the most recent of these years being 1903 and 1963.

Wishing you all the very best for the year ahead with all the health, wealth and happiness you desire. Let's all try and be a bit more water rabbit with mercy and gentility towards others, and towards ourselves.

November has traditionally been the month to raise awareness for men's health, in particular prostate cancer. As we get older it is very important for men to get checked, especially if the following symptoms occur: change in urination patterns such as going more frequently at night, pain when urinating or blood in your urine or semen are indicators that something may not be right.

Getting checked with your local GP is a quick, straightforward scenario. Even if no symptoms occur those at middle age and beyond should make it a regular date.

Hi all, just a reminder that we will be closed Monday 31st October. I have a day of apple bobbing, mummy wrapping and perhaps some trick or treating planned.

Also, PSA, clocks go back tonight to enjoy an extra hour in bed. Happy Halloween!!!

Did you know up to half of all tennis players will get tennis elbow in their career? This condition is when the tendons around the outside elbow becomes inflamed, exacerbated by the stroke of the racquet but can be also be an issue even if you're not a tennis player.

Think of it like a repetitive strain injury, its the same small group of tensons being used with each stroke. This effects both pro's and amateurs alike where overuse, poor technique or a weakness in the elbow can cause the pain and recovery time to grow exponentially.

The good news is that the condition is very treatable with surgery required in only a small percentage of cases. Acupuncture helps alleviate inflammation in the tendons surrounding the elbow, it can reduce or eliminate pain and also draws circulation to the area to speed up recovery time!

More mountains this weekend whilst taking in some of the last of the summer sun. Kept it local at the mountain view market in Ballyhale.

It had some of my favourite attractions: food stalls, and lots of them. I am obsessed with food and eating well, sometimes that means a bit of indulgence and I'm OK with that. Local food, local artisans and local ingredients, what's not to love?

Forest bathing with a difference! Spent the day at the beautiful avondale forest Park at their "beyond the trees" attraction. Such a great set up and being able to walk amongst and above the forest felt amazing!

If you're a frequent visitor to my page you may notice I regularly post when the weather will be good to go out and get your vitamin D. Sunshine interacts with the skin to produce viatmin D but only between March to October in our climate.

The benefits of vitamin D in the body are numerous but essentially it is important for bone health, muscle function, circulation and it helps to support the immune system. All this from simple sunshine, in responsible doses obviously.

Early morning sun is usually recommended as there is less chance of burning but even just getting 15 minutes of sunshine, 3 times a week from March to October can give you all the vitamin D you need to see you through the winter. Remember to be responsible and wear sunscreen when out longer as excess sun damage is extremely damaging to the skin. Like most things in life its a balancing act and so morning sun between 7-9am is the safest time to go get those lovely rays.

The above photo was taken at the japanese Gardens in Tramore, because if you are going to enjoy the good weather then why not do it somewhere beautiful?

With summer arriving with a bang this week thought it would be a perfect time for this. What does your urine say about you?

I was there in the 90s when water became the next big thing. People balked at spending more on a litre of water than a litre of petrol.

Celebs were everywhere clutching a bottle of evian and people talked incessantly about the need to hydrate. Fast forward 30 years and thankfully, the plastic bottles have largely been replaced with the reusable kind but hydration is still very much the in thing. So why are people still so unsure about how much to drink?

I get asked all the time about how many litres to drink, when should they drink, how often, etc. The simple truth is that it's really simple. Your urine should be the colour of pale straw. Any darker and you're dehydrated and need to drink, if it's clear you've overdone it and hold off on drinking any more for a while. It can also be other colours if you're on medication or pinky if you have a kidney issue or have blood in the urine. Room temperature water is always best but thr most important thing is that you listen to your body and follow the colour of your urine!
