Clareyoga

Clareyoga Clare Yoga Nature Reserve is a centre for yoga set in the hills of East Clare overlooking Lough Derg. It is equidistant from Killaloe and Scarriff (4 miles).

The property with 16 acres, a stream and hundreds of mature trees is a natural haven. Of itself, a place of peace and connectedness. My intention here was for a place that would enhance yoga and meditation. Having taught yoga groups for over 23 years and run retreats for over 10 years at Sunyata Retreat Centre, I began finally teaching from home at An Seileastram Bui. Now I look forward to hosting retreats here too. All yoga I teach is a tribute to T. KRISHNAMACHARYA as taught by his son and pupil T.K.V. Desikachar for over 30 years. It is mostly with the latter's pupil of over 20 years, Paul Harvey, that I have studied. Other teachers that have influenced me are Angela Farmer and Victor von Kooten. Having taught groups for over 20 years and 1 to 1 for over 10 years, I began teaching individuals and subsequently groups classes of 10 people from home. Now, too, we will accommodate 8 people for small intimate retreats. For years meditation has been part of my life. Yoga is for me synonymous with meditation. Years of in-depth study of the yoga sutras and daily practice of meditation and pranayama have reinforced this view (so sadly missing in many modern schools of yoga). Over the last 2 years I have been studying buddhist meditation under Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche with the guidance of my dear friend Annelies von Haaren. This has been a great resource to me personally. I have also taken lessons in Alexander Technique over a 2 year period, with my friend Penelope Easten, which has been supportive to staying present to feelings and emotions and their relative patterns in the body. For the past 40 years, since I started practicing yoga, I have been a vegetarian which led soon to a keen interest in nutrition. This has continued and deepened over the past 10 years with an increasing interest in students' eating and drinking habits and the link to their mental clarity as well as their body and health profile. Nature has always been a tonic for my own well being. My own personal interest has been enhanced through shamanic studies with Katryna Kucheri and Carole Guyett. I am presently doing an apprenticeship in Plant medicine with Carole at Derrynagitta. So many dear friends have been influential and have enhanced my view and enriched my life as too my family. My mother began teaching yoga at age 70 years and continues to teach 2 classes a week at the age of 81. It is this work of offering all that has been given to me from others that makes An SEILEASTRAM BUÍ what it is and is to become. Nourishment and healing through yoga, wholistic nutrition and nature in a simple and beautiful environment is what I wish to offer at An Seileastram Buí.

While storms accompany me through this period of deep change and unnerving shifting contours, Looking at the beauty of the nature here around me and my beautiful home is both soothing and warms my heart with great gratitude.

Sharing all of this, my 30 years of yoga teaching, an equal amount of years of following the science of nutrition, the study and practice of meditation and Plant Spirit Medicine for 10 years and much more , I look forward to opening my home and experience to people every second Saturday for the next months.

Detoxing and improving one’s knowledge and awareness of food, herbs , yoga and life choices can improve our immune system , our general health as well as steadying the mind , reducing anxiety , fears and the core of the self critic and self sabotage.
Empowerment has been my core theme for 40 years now.

As we strengthen our resolve and release the habits that bind us to the shadow we prepare mentally and physically for the increasing light and awareness.

Now in my sixty second year, I wish to commit to sharing my inner Elder , my grandmother energy and helping to bring others closer to their own inner truth, wisdom and beauty.

Teaching yoga and giving yoga practices to individuals for well over 30 and 20 years now, I see details of understanding and a wisdom , that I have gleamed which I have neither seen or been taught ever despite the wonderful teachers and all I have learn from them.
They have prepared me for receiving this knowledge and wisdom.
I now wish to offer this back to the yoga community.
The deep connections between breath, body, awareness, with movement and staying in postures is a world of its own and a treasure box that I never cease to explore and admire.

The feet core , spine and head connections reflecting chakras and the elements all combine to produce an alchemy that stirs and reshapes us both ancestrally and right the way into the transformative processes of the DNA and mitochondrial core of our cellular energy.

I feel a great humility for the years of teaching and what my experience has given me as I witness students in individual lessons , as well as in groups.

Seeing one person challenged by the breath;another by the distracted mind , another by a distorted spine or extremely low energy. Then accepting where they are at and tuning in to how best I may serve them exposes me to a wisdom both unique, tender and humbling.

It is not easily explained as it is subtle and very individual. But now I have to come out of the closet and expose myself.
I may make mistakes. I have no experience with social media or with writing books.
But I would like to develop a way to share my experience. By sharing , not just with the millions of students world wide, but with the thousands of teachers that want to deepen their awareness , knowledge and wisdom.
Teaching from my 16 acre nature reserve in the hills above Lough Derg in East Clare for over 10 years now has been in a sense a hermitage. This has had a great impact on my own mind, my practice and experience.

I feel now I have something unique to share.
Not only do I combine the experience and knowledge of 11 years of professional training in the Vini Yoga tradition ( with my teachers Dr Martin Soder , Dr Imogen Dahlmann ( Berlin) and Paul Harvey ( Bristol) , but combined and contrasted with over 1,000 workshop hours with the great masters of inner yoga Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten, this is in itself fairly unique.
The depths of study of the yoga Sutras in the Vini Yoga tradition contrasts with the raw unashamed defiance of all of that on the other hand.
Delving and trusting what is inherent while having the lens of a tradition that goes back thousands of years is itself a unique gift.
Within the last 10 years , I studied the Native American traditions as well as our own Celtic wisdoms with Carole Guyett as well as the study of Tibetan Buddhism.
Added to this some years of Alexander technique.
Indeed the study and knowledge is far from complete or ended. On many levels , I think it is only now beginning.
Yet I want to join a bigger stage and offer all I have gained to others.
I will be giving day workshops for the next 6 months , every second Saturday.

From now until June we will focus on releasing the old both the physical holdings that no longer serve and the mental habits; food wise opening new doors and learning to open our senses to new levels of awareness in nature and through the elements within and without.
We will learn about the many ways to detox with yoga postures and breath and how food and Intermittent fasting can develop slowly over time to give us the nurturing gentle supports we need to be ‘the change we want to see in the world’.
We are now all called to step forward for healing and positive change. Our world needs everyone of us.
Each has their own gifts and contributions to make. But we cannot all jump through hoops. We need steady pathways that give us nurturing supports , holding us steady to transform gently and authentically.

For anyone called to experience my work :
I offer the 1 day workshops (Saturdays (22nd February, 7thMarch, 14thMarch, 28th March , 11th April and 25thAoril , ) with organic meals , special teas and juices for €60 for the day 10-5 pm.
A bundle of 6 Saturdays for €300.
Please phone me directly for books on 087

Shading and shadow boxing: Camilla O'Callaghan http://clareyoga.com/journal/2015/7/20/shading-and-shadow-boxing

The state of mind we dwell in when not enlightened is our shadow. We are the shadow people, munching around in the ghosts of our past. We are haunted by our past and planning escapes into the future. The past leaves a ghostly odour , a foul smell. It covers us, permeating our true light. It is our s…

Summer Reflections Camilla O'Callaghan http://clareyoga.com/journal/2015/7/6/summer-reflections-1

When we sit , we open to the body and the breath. Any part we shut out will cause division and results in mental activity, ie, thought . Yoga is the containment of mental activity. Being more present , brings more stillness. We are not in isolation. We sit on the earth, the great mother. We have an…

To enshrine the ownership of our water in our own hand. Camilla O'Callaghan http://clareyoga.com/journal/2014/11/7/to-enshrine-the-ownership-of-our-water-in-our-own-hand

The last days have seen the temperatures and rain fall of the winter season after an extended warm and dry period. While so so welcome. , it does beg the question , is there not too much heat and dryness in the south of Europe , when we have had such heat and dryness. What about our fellow humans in…
