Stress doesn’t just stay in your mind.
It frequently manifests physically through your visual system.

One of the most common signs is myokymia, or the annoying eyelid twitch, which occurs when high levels of cortisol trigger localized muscle spasms.

Beyond a simple twitch, chronic stress can lead to Central Serous Chorioretinopathy (CSCR), a condition where fluid builds up under the retina, causing distorted or blurry central vision.

If you have high myopia, your eye is physically longer than average. Imagine stretching a balloon: the more it expands, the thinner and more fragile the material becomes. This stretching puts immense strain on the delicate structures inside your eye.

This increased “axial length” significantly raises the risk for:

Retinal Detachment: The retina is stretched thin, making it prone to tears or peeling away.

Early Cataracts: High myopes often develop cataracts decades earlier than others.

Myopic Macular Degeneration: Thinning of the central vision area, which can lead to permanent vision loss.
