Tennis ball tip Tuesday ๐ŸŽพ

I went back to the Pet store to see if I could get any more inspiration.

Found this one, which is kind of like the two tennis balls in the sock trick.

You can have a play around with it, it may be helpful for self massage:
๐ŸŽพ down either side of the spine
๐ŸŽพthe back of the neck, kneeling down
๐ŸŽพ having it between your calves and your hamstrings

Do you have any other ideas for it?

Remember , just enough pressure that you feel slightly discomfort ( like you are on the right spot) and not too much that it is "gripping your teeth pain".

It is exam season ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“–

So there may be heightened anxiety and stress in the house, as well as an increase in tension in the body and lack of quality sleep.

There is evidence that massage therapy can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and reduce the feeling of stiffness, discomfort and pain in the back, shoulders and neck.

Nagata et al., 2015 ; Pazmiรฑo et al.,2024; Zeitlin et al.,2000.
( Note studies in massage therapy around exams are small and the effectiveness of massage is influenced by the experience of the receiver and therapist.)

I offer sessions to both students and parents to help during this stressful period.

The clinic is open during the week, including evenings and Saturday mornings.

Tennis ball Tip Tuesday: IT Band

The poor IT band has gotten a bad rep over the years and all it wants to do is support you.

It you have been diagnosed with IT band syndrome ( again an unfortunate name) or you are experiencing any pain or discomfort in the hip, thighs and knee , then focus should be more on the muscles of the hip: glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps and tensor fascia late.

Work to calm those muscles down (heat, massage and gentle movement)and slowly build it back up ( strengthen and mobility).

Handy tip if you are getting pain after doing your shoulder rehab exercises.

Rehab mobilization exercises are really helpful, but if you are experiencing any pain from your neck into your shoulder and down your arm, then this tip may help .

This tip is also great if you are just starting out in your shoulder rehab journey and want to get the best out of your recovery.

Also great if you are new to upper body weights and strength training โค๏ธ
