Is Weak Hip Strength Holding You Back After ACL Rehab?

Did you know that hip abduction strength can remain significantly reduced—even TWO years after ACL surgery? 🤔

Weak hip abductors don’t just slow your recovery; they’re also linked to:

• 🦵 Common knee pain problems like patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) and tendinopathy.

• 🏃‍♂️ Reduced psychological readiness to return to sport or activity.

• ❌ Impaired functional abilities like jumping, landing, sprinting, and twisting.

👩‍🔬 Research highlights the importance of training hip abduction strength as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan. Without it, you’re not just risking re-injury—you’re limiting your ability to fully trust your body and perform at your best.

👣 At Go Beyond Physiotherapy, we don’t guess—we assess. Using objective measures, we test your hip strength and incorporate targeted training to rebuild both your physical abilities and confidence.

💬 Struggling with knee pain or recovering from ACL surgery? Let’s ensure your hips aren’t holding you back.

➡️ DM us today or book your consultation to take the next step toward full recovery.

🎯 Title: How Do I Know If I Can Go Running Again?

🌟 Returning to running is more than just “feeling better.” 🌟

When you’ve been sidelined by injury, the excitement to lace up your shoes and hit the pavement is real. But how do you know if your body is truly ready?

At Go Beyond Physiotherapy, we don’t guess—we test. ✅

🔑 Two crucial factors we assess:

1️⃣ Peak Force: Can your muscles generate the strength needed to handle the impact forces of running?

2️⃣ Rate of Force Development: How quickly can your muscles produce that force to stabilize your joints during each stride?

Running demands resilience, coordination, and the ability to manage repetitive loads. By objectively measuring these metrics, we ensure you’re not just pain-free but strong enough to run safely and confidently without risking re-injury. 💪🏃

📊 Our process combines cutting-edge testing with movement coaching to prepare your body for the demands of running—whether you’re aiming for 5Ks or marathons.

❓ Are you unsure if you’re ready to get back on the road or trail?

💬 DM us or book an assessment today.

👉 Don’t just return—return better.

🌍 World Diabetes Day - 14th November 2024 🌍

Did you know that Type 2 Diabetes can often be prevented or better managed by making simple yet powerful lifestyle changes? Prevention starts with the basics:

🍽️ A healthy, balanced diet

😴 Prioritizing good quality sleep

🏋️‍♂️ Regular exercise, especially resistance training

📉 Managing blood pressure and cholesterol levels

⚖️ Reducing excess body fat

But today, we want to place a special emphasis on resistance training. Building muscle mass through resistance exercises has an enormous impact on regulating blood glucose levels. When you increase your muscle mass, you improve your body’s ability to use glucose, which helps in controlling blood sugar and reducing the risk of complications related to diabetes.

Take control of your health today. Resistance training isn’t just about getting stronger—it’s about living healthier, preventing chronic conditions like diabetes, and improving your overall quality of life. 💪

“Do you have a back injury? So does Tim, who’s 87 years old and absolutely crushing it in the gym.

Despite severe lower back fractures three years ago, Tim now deadlifts 50kg for 5 reps and performs bent-over rows for 12 reps. His strength and resilience are incredible, and his recent blood tests even show reduced cholesterol. 💪

Strength training isn’t just for the young—it’s crucial for maintaining muscle, bone density, cognitive function, immune support, and overall health as we age. Whether you have disc issues, joint concerns, bone injuries, or nerve findings on an MRI, these things don’t have to define what you’re capable of.

If you’re ready to move beyond limitations and start training for a stronger, healthier future, reach out to us. Don’t accept regular. Go Beyond.

“Returning to running after a femoral stress fracture takes more than just time—it requires precise assessment and data-backed decisions to ensure a safe, effective comeback. 🏃‍♀️

Before you lace up, it’s crucial to assess:

• Peak force and rate of force development in your quads, squat, and lunge

• Hopping and jumping strength to confirm equal loading across both legs

At Go Beyond Physiotherapy, we use the AxIT system to accurately measure these factors with dynamometry, giving you objective data on your readiness to run again.

Over just 6 weeks, our runner progressed her quadriceps rate of force development from 9.8kg/s to 195kg/s—now within 19% of her stronger side. Her single-leg hop scores? Strong and balanced. These are key indicators showing she’s ready to return to running.

Rehab shouldn’t be a guessing game. With accurate testing and the right approach, you can feel confident that your body is truly prepared to handle the demands of running. Don’t accept regular. Go Beyond.

“🌍 World Stroke Day 2024 🌍

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, but the good news is that many strokes can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices. Prevention starts with small but powerful changes:

🟢 A balanced diet rich in nutrients

🟢 Prioritizing quality sleep

🟢 Regular exercise, including resistance training

🟢 Managing blood pressure and cholesterol

🟢 Reducing excess body fat

These factors all play a huge role in lowering your stroke risk and improving overall health. But if stroke does occur, rehabilitation becomes key to regaining independence. Resistance training is a vital part of recovery, helping to improve muscle tone, strength, and functional independence, so you can get back to doing the things you love. 💪

At Go Beyond Physio, we believe that prevention and recovery go hand in hand. Take action today to build a stronger, healthier body, and know that we’re here to help guide you every step of the way.

“ACL injuries can be life-changing, but preparing for surgery the right way can make all the difference. 💪 This young lady came in for her pre-surgical assessment, and we found something surprising—her quads on the injured side (left) were actually stronger than on her right side, which had ACL surgery 3 years ago.

This asymmetry is a crucial factor that may have contributed to her 2nd ACL injury. Building strength and addressing these imbalances before surgery is essential to improving recovery outcomes and reducing the risk of future injuries. A proper baseline assessment ensures we know exactly where your body is at, so we can work on improving strength and balance before and after surgery.

ACL surgery isn’t just about the repair—it’s about preparing your body to come back stronger. If you’re facing surgery, don’t overlook the importance of prehab. Get assessed, build strength, and go beyond recovery. 💥
