The name “Reformer Pilates” relates to the equipment used which is called a “Reformer Machine”.
How does it work?
Reformer Pilates is a form of low impact exercise that involves a specialised piece of equipment called a “reformer.” This equipment consists of a sliding carriage attached to springs, pulleys, and ropes. During a Reformer Pilates session, you perform a series of controlled movements that target specific muscle groups while lying, sitting, or standing on the carriage. The resistance provided by the springs helps to build strength, improve flexibility, and enhance overall body awareness. It’s a low-impact workout that focuses on alignment, core strength, and functional movement patterns.
