Genes are blueprints — not destinies.

They don’t decide when they switch on
or how strongly they express themselves.

Genes don’t act in isolation.
They respond to signals.

Things like:
• stress
• posture
• movement
• sleep
• nervous system balance

Each one sends information that can turn gene activity up or down.

And Christmas is a perfect example of this.

Different routines.
More sitting.
Later nights.
More pressure — even the good kind.

None of this is “wrong”…
but it does change the signals your body is receiving.

Health isn’t about changing genes.
It’s about changing the environment they respond to.

Your body doesn’t “break down.”
It adapts.

Pain, tension, fatigue, and digestive changes
are adaptive responses to load, stress, or imbalance.

So the issue isn’t stress or change —
it’s reduced adaptability.

Chiropractic is about helping the body adapt better,
not forcing it to behave differently.

Stress changes posture.
Posture changes breathing.
Breathing changes chemistry.
Chemistry changes mood.

The body doesn’t separate these systems —
only textbooks do.

They’re treated like the problem.
Something to fight.
Something to silence.

But symptoms are not mistakes.

They’re signals.

They’re the body saying,
“Something needs attention.”

When you remove the symptom without addressing the cause,
you haven’t solved the problem —
you’ve just turned down the volume.

Chiropractic doesn’t ask,
“How do we silence this?”

It asks,

A decision to look after yourself.

B.J. Palmer reminded us that we rarely see the full ripple effect of our actions — but that doesn’t make them any less powerful. In chiropractic, we see this every day.

One adjustment doesn’t just help a spine. It calms the nervous system. Which improves sleep. Which changes the mood. Which affects relationships. Which influences families, workplaces, and communities.

At this time of year — when stress is high, and resilience is tested, small, positive actions matter more than ever.

Ever notice how this time of year feels… a bit much?

Too much EATing, DRINKing, SHOPPing, SPENDing, WORRYing
and not enough RESTing, MOVing, or BREATHEing.

A good friend of mine once jokingly called this “ING Syndrome” —
and while it’s not a medical diagnosis, it perfectly describes how stress quietly builds up in the body.

When stress accumulates, the nervous system stays stuck in fight-or-flight.
Digestion slows.
Sleep suffers.
Muscles tighten.
Energy drops.

The answer isn’t doing more.
It’s supporting your body to adapt better.
