Kieran Bros Funeral Care was formed in 1954 by brothers Tom and Tony Kieran who came from Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan to set up their business in Kingscourt. For eight decades, the Kieran Family have been providing Funeral Directing services in the town of Kingscourt and the surrounding areas. Over these years, Tony observed much change in funeral service and adapted the business to

meet changing technologies and the ever-changing needs of bereaved families. For example in 1954 before the invention of email and fax, all funeral notices for newspapers were given verbally to newspaper staff after waiting in a long queue (over the phone) to speak with one of their agents. Today funeral notices can be sent by email from mobile phones to all relevant newspapers, websites and radio stations simultaneously in a matter of seconds. Funeral directors in the nineteen fifties were expected by their customers to organize a selection of stout, beer and ci******es for visitors to a “wake house”. Fast forward to the present day and the practice of serving alcohol at a “traditional” Irish Wake is almost unheard of and instead, a Funeral Director is more likely to now to have to organise gluten-free sandwiches rather than Guinness! Tony’s son Colm joined the business on a full-time basis in 2011 having worked in many aspects of the business from an early age. Colm graduated as a Civil Engineer and in 2003 and has worked in the various types of services industries for over 15 years providing project management services for companies of various sizes, local authorities, and multinationals. Funeral Home in Hall Street, Kingscourt as well as the rebranding of the company to Kieran Bros Funeral Care. In 2013 Colm achieved the FETAC Level 5 “Certificate in Funeral Practice” qualification. This course designed & delivered by the Irish Association of Funeral Directors (IAFD) to provide a combination of formal classroom & practical based training to meet the needs of Funeral Directors. In 2014 Colm joined the Board of Directors of the National Association of Funeral Directors where he became involved in their education and communications committees. From 2015 to 2018 Colm acted as spokesperson for this national association and continues to be involved as a tutor in the delivery of their education courses to Funeral Directors across Ireland. In 2020, Colm completed the IIOC Certificate in Funeral Celebrancy. A Certificate in Funeral Celebrancy is designed for those who wish to be fully trained as a professional funeral Celebrant. It includes ceremonies for funerals, memorials, scattering of ashes, and all aspects of a funeral service and is delivered by experts with many years of experience.

The death has occurred of P.J. Finn, Baileborough Road, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, 8th August 2025.

Predeceased by his parents, Benny and Mary, and his brother Benny. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Ann, daughter Deirdre, sons Brian (Angie) and Darren (Charlotte), his brothers, Hugh, Patrick, Lawrence, Bosco and Ollie, grandchildren Danny, Shane, Conor, Jayden, Rio, Lillie, Shay, Bobby and Cara, great-grandchildren Madison and Freya. Sadly missed also by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Kieran Bros Funeral Home, Hall Street, Kingscourt, (A82R2W3) on Sunday, 10th August, from 3pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, 11th August, at 10am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The family of the late Carmel Crosby (née Moore) would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the support and sympathy shown to us at the recent loss of our dear mother, Grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she is deeply missed by her sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives, and wide circle of friends.

We would like to thank our brilliant neighbours who were always there to help mum and dad down the years. Thanks to everybody who visited the funeral home and the home, those who sent Mass cards and sympathy cards and posted condolences online.

Thanks to all that attended her funeral Mass. To the staff and carers in Moorehall Lodge who looked after mum in her final years, and the carers who looked after her when she was home. Thanks to Dee-Rangers and the management and players of Meath Hill GFC who visited the funeral home and gave her a guard of honour to her final resting place.

To Colm Kieran and his brilliant staff who made things so easy for the family at this difficult time. To those who dug the grave and to Drumconrath Choir for the lovely music. To Ethna Martin for lovely music at graveside. To Fiona Rafferty for Mass books and Caroline Lynch for the wallet cards.

To the priests who said Mass – Fr. Sean, Fr. Gerry, and especially Fr. Connaughton, who had a very special place in mother’s heart.

The family of the late Barney Fleming wish to express our sincere gratitude for the sympathy and support shown to us following the loss of our Father/Grandfather. We would like to thank relatives, friends, and neighbours for providing refreshments in our home. Thank you to those who travelled from afar to be with us, to those who sent Mass cards, Sympathy cards, texts, and posted condolences online, and to everyone who attended the Funeral Home, Removal, Funeral Mass, and Burial.

Thanks to Fr Gerry McCormack for his support and lovely Funeral Mass, Ann Burns for the beautiful singing, and Kingscourt Stars for the Guard of Honour. We are grateful to Colm and all at Kieran Bros Funeral Care for the dignified and professional manner they carried out the funeral arrangements. We thank the gravediggers also.

A special word of thanks to Daddy’s Home Help, the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at Kingscourt Surgery/Primary Care Centre, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, David, and all at McNally’s Pharmacy who cared for Daddy over the years.

The death has occurred of Carmel Crosby (née Moore), Rooskey, Drumconrath, Co. Meath, 1st July, 2025, peacefully & surrounded by her family at Moorehall Lodge, Ardee, in her 90th year.

Predeceased by her husband Michael (Mick), her father James and mother Bridget, her sisters Madge, Maureen and Phyllis, her brother Johnny, her grandsons Thomas and Niall, her granddaughter Rachel and her son-in-law Eamonn McKenna.

Carmel will be sadly missed by her children Doreen, Carmel, Bridie, Michael, Tony, Dermot, Aidan, Brendan, Mary, Jimmy, Damien, Linda and Annette, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, her sisters, brothers, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Patricia (Pat) Keenan (née Browne), 33 Lisdrumskeagh, Shercock, Co. Cavan, A81 YR64, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on 25th June 2025.

Predeceased by her son Mark, her parents Minnie and Eddie, and her sister Doreen. Sadly missed by her sons Gary and Donal (and his partner Stephanie), daughters Janette (and her partner Joe), Frances, Patrice, Jemma and Amy, her adored grandchildren Leah, Adam, Jay, Abbie, Saoirse, Jayden, Ruby, Noah, Logan, Ethan and Arabella. Lovingly remembered by her brothers Brendan, Dermot, Eamon and PJ, sisters Marie and Geraldine, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Kathleen McGlynn (née Lynch), Dublin Road, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, and formerly of Corlea, Kingscourt, peacefully in her 94th year, surrounded by her family, 15th June 2025.

Predeceased by her husband Conn, her brothers John and Tom, and her sister Bridie. Deeply regretted by her loving daughters Marion, Bernadette, Philomena, and Annette, son-in-law Michael, brothers Eamonn and Benny and sister Eileen. The death has occurred of Paddy McGahan, St. Mary’s Road, Kingscourt, and formerly of Reaghstown, Ardee, County Louth, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital on 1st June 2025, in his 95th year.

Predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Jack, and by his brothers and sisters.
