✨Fun Fact of the Day✨

All my Candles and products are made only from Essential Oils but what are they?

Essential oils are the essence of a plant, a gift from Mother Nature.

They are made from steaming or pressing various parts of a plant, flowers, leaves or fruit, to bring the power of nature to you.

Every year, on Christmas Eve, my mum would light a beautiful large candle in the front window of our home. It is tradition!
But why is it tradition?
Do you know the history and reasons why we light a candle in our windows at Christmas?
I have a few interesting facts below 👇🏼

The origin of Christmas window candles dates back to the 15th century.
The appearance of a lit candle in the window often signified that a home was open and welcoming to those passing through and that there would be food and shelter available.

The recognition of loved ones was another reason that many once lit traditional candles in their windows during the festive season.
A candle in the window could represent a silent prayer for the return of an absent family member, or it can be in honour of a family member who has passed.

Catholic families during the times of Penal Laws would display a candle to let priests know that there home was a safe haven.

Religious Reasons:
For Christians, a candle is lit to represent the star of Bethlehem, guiding the Magi to the stable where Jesus was born.

Christians also consider Jesus as the “light of the world,“ and they light candles during Christmas to celebrate the birth of the “light of the world;”

For those of Jewish faith, a menorah in the window is a Jewish custom symbolising the miracle of Chanukah -when a single jug of oil burnt for eight days.

The tradition of burning a candle in the window has survived for centuries and is something many families around the world continue to do.
Will you light a candle in your window this Christmas Eve? 🕯
