✨ Meet the WAWs ✨
Alannagh McGlynn
Alannagh McGlynn is a singer and musician from Dungloe, with strong family ties to Glenfin. A teacher based in Manorcunningham, she balances her working week with performing at weekends as a member of the band Fíoruisce.
A familiar voice in venues such as Leo’s Tavern and the Caisleáin Óir Hotel, Alannagh is known for her love of Irish ballads and traditional music, often accompanied by the spoons. Her passion for Irish song and tradition was passed down through generations — from her grandmother, Bríd Bean Mhic Fhloinn, a singer, and from the island traditions of her grandfather, Johnny Boyle of Inishkerragh Island.
Deeply involved in promoting Irish culture and language, Alannagh works with Pleanáil Teanga Na Rosann and is also a Mary coordinator with the Mary from Dungloe Festival, where she enjoys helping young women develop their talents during festival week.
July is her busiest month, as she divides her time between the Mary from Dungloe Festival and her favourite week of the year at the Willie Clancy Festival in Miltown Malbay.
We’re delighted to welcome Alannagh McGlynn as part of Wild Atlantic Women at the St Brigid’s Concert in the Balor Arts Centre — a celebration of women’s voices, tradition and community.
