For those who are interested here is a list of 3k/5k/10k and more events taking part in the coming weeks and months.
Many of these are fundraisers and great for social runners.
If you have not done any of them, start with one of the 3k/5k events (some have the option to walk) and you will see just what a great buzz there is about them. In many cases there are also great refreshments afterwards.

Hugh congrats to everyone who did the Couch to 5k final run this morning. It was very wet which made it all the bigger achievement.

In just 8 weeks we went from doing just a one minute jog at a time to doing a full 5k.
Proof that Couch to 5k works.

We had a bigger crowd last Thursday for our trial run. Anyone who did that but who could not make it today can still get their Certificate of Achievement my contacting me by Whatsapp, text or messenger on 086 817 5194.

The next new Couch to 5k eight week programme begins in Tuesday, June 2nd at Letterkenny Community Centre

For those who have now 'graduated' from Couch to 5k you might want to consider coming down to Run for Fun Letterkenny.
We meet at 7.15 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays beside the track at Letterkenny Community Centre and do 5k social runs around the town. It's just €2 per night and a great way to exercise and socialise at the same time!

Well done to everyone who did the trial 5k run yesterday evening for the current Couch to 5k Class at Letterkenny Community Centre

Everyone should rightly feel please and proud. Look at how much you have progressed since the first week.

A big thank you to all the Run for Fun Letterkenny runners who came down on the night to give support and run alongside many of you as well.

A reminder that the 'Real McCoy' 5k is on this Sunday. Registration will open from 9.30 am at Letterkenny Community Centre (at the adult education building to the right hand side). You will get a bib with number and pins, and afterwards you will get a certificate and medal.

There is a €5 fee payable to cover refreshments, certs and the "gold" medals! If you paid in full at the very start, then this is already covered.

Do ask friends and family to come along and cheer you over the line.

It is a big accomplishment and there will be a sense of achievement, not least because of the progress that you have made over the past two months.

Once again, well done to all.

COUCH TO 5 k - ALMOST THERE, Please read

We will hold our official end of class 5k run on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at Letterkenny Community Centre at 10.00 am. Registration is from 9.30 am.
You will get a running number, plus a medal and certificate which will be presented afterwards. There is a €5 charge to cover medal, cert and refreshments. Anyone who paid for the full course up front is already covered.
Do bring friends and family to cheer you over the line. You will feel a great sense of achievement.
You are almost there. Keep going. The Couch to 5k Programme works.

IMPORTANT
On Thursday, May 14th, we will do a trial 5k run at 6.30 pm. This still counts as having completed the programme. You will still get your cert and medal - but not until after the official run on Sunday has been done. They can be collected at the Community Centre, or by contacting me.

Note: You can do it all on the track if you prefer. There is no pressure on anyone - but a lot of people find it nice to get off the track. You are probably getting dizzy at this stage! We do a loop and a bit around the Neil T. Blaney Road on the Sunday.

If you can’t make the Thursday or Sunday runs, contact me and we can arrange to do the run some other time. Contact me on 086 8175194. Chris Ashmore.

IMPORTANT: If you feel the 5k is too much, there is an option to do a 3k.
