Carol Beatty - Play Therapist - Parent Child Attachment Play Facilitator

Carol Beatty - Play Therapist - Parent Child Attachment Play Facilitator Seirbhís dátheangach i Teiripe Súgartha do pháistí, daoine óga agus a dteaghlaigh. I am mammy to four children and wife to Paul. Fáilte Isteach!

Carol offers a bilingual Play&Creative Arts and Attachment Play Therapy Service for children, young people and their families. I have worked in the early years sector for over 17years. Becoming a play therapist was always my dream and I am proud that I am now making that dream a reality. I am passionate about promoting the importance of play for children, young people, teenagers and adults alike. Like most, I have encountered my fair share of ups and downs in my life. I have no regrets but rather see them as life experiences which I have used as stepping stones to bring me to a better place. Working with children is a rewarding profession. I now feel very priviliged that I am in a position to offer therapeutic support to children, young people and their families who may find themselves struggling for one reason or another.

❤️ A New Year & A Gentle Restart ❤️

As we step into a new year, I wanted to take a moment to reconnect here and share an update.

Play Therapy sessions will be recommencing next week, and I am also looking forward to commencing new sessions at a new location very soon. I am deeply grateful to the families who have remained in touch and to those patiently waiting for support.

You may have noticed a quieter presence from me on social media over recent months. While engagement here has been limited, my commitment to therapeutic work and to children and families has never wavered.

The latter part of 2025 did not unfold as planned. Due to personal circumstances, I was unfortunately unable to commence Play Therapy sessions locally during that time, which was disappointing. As a family, we have been navigating the complex process of securing temporary accommodation as we prepare to demolish our home this year due to defective blocks. Alongside this, we are currently awaiting scoliosis surgery for our daughter, which has involved ongoing appointments in Crumlin Hospital and many fears.

Balancing hospital visits, family life, two jobs, and a Master’s degree has been demanding. Like many in caring roles, I carry a deep awareness of the families on my waiting list, those who remain hopeful, patient, and continue to advocate for their precious children. Over this time, I have learned (and am still learning) that there are moments when I must also attend to my own well-being and to my family. I am, after all, just one person.

The uncertainty of the past six months has been heavy and lonely. Watching our home weaken while supporting our daughter through her scoliosis journey, all while striving to maintain stability and consistency for our other children. By the end of 2025, I was depleted.

As this new year begins, I am moving forward with renewed intention, steadier footing, and deep gratitude for the understanding shown. Thank you for your continued trust, patience, and kindness.

More updates on availability will follow shortly ❤️

Today is World Mental Health Day 2025.

We all have mental health, just like we have physical health. One day it can be good and another day it might not be so good.

Thinking of young Joey today on this the day of his funeral. I am holding his family and friends, especially his mammy, daddy, and brothers, close in my heart.
Days like today carry such weight, and I hope that love, support, and many cherished memories bring comfort and strength to help all who are heartbroken, to carry this heartache. May the family feel surrounded by care and kindness as they navigate this difficult time.

We hope that the angels have wrapped their arms around you now Joey.

A warm re-introduction for anyone new to this page

My name is Carol, and I am a mum of four, an Accredited Play Therapist, Licensed Parent-Child Attachment Play Facilitator, and Assistant Lecturer at ATU.

With over 20 years of experience supporting children and families, I am deeply passionate about the transformative power of play. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree, with my research focusing on “The Disappearance of Play-Based Learning as Children Progress to the Senior Classes in Primary School.”

In my clinical practice, I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where children are empowered to heal, grow, and reconnect. After having worked in collaboration with The Pastoral Centre Counselling Team since May 2024, I have made the decision to return my focus to my private clinic and I am so excited to have, this week, secured a beautiful space in the heart of Letterkenny to offer my service.

I am now accepting referrals and spaces are limited. Please reach out for more details or to request a referral pack.

Looking forward to welcoming you all to my Letterkenny clinic 💕
