Risk Assessments are a legal requirement. All companies and self-employed people are required to consider health and safety risks in the workplace, and companies with five or more employees are legally obliged to record the findings or risk assessments.

However, the importance of risk assessments goes beyond the fact that they are a legal requirement. They shouldn't occur simply to achieve compliance.

So why are risk assessments important?

Here are some of the reasons why companies need to assess hazards and risks and put effective control measures in place:
➡️ To protect people from potential harm and ill-health
➡️Risk Assessments can save lives
➡️Avoid the unnecessary costs of poor risk management
➡️Risk Assessments reduce company's legal liability

Restrictive practices in healthcare refers to the implementation of any practice that restricts an individual’s movement, liberty and/or freedom to act independently without coercion or consequence.

Restrictive Practice training is aimed at Healthcare professionals and employees.

The aim of this training training is to develop an awareness of what restrictive practices are, why they are used and more importantly identifying alternatives.
The goal is to create an environment that is free from restraint or that minimises the use of restrictive practices.

Well done to our group of participants from the CE Health and Social Care programme who recently completed their People Moving and Handling training.

This essential training plays a vital role in ensuring safe practices within care settings, giving participants the skills and confidence needed to support others while protecting their own wellbeing.
It’s a key requirement across many placements and significantly enhances employability within the health and social care sector.

A big thank you to Donegal Safety Services Ltd for delivering the training, and special appreciation to CE Supervisor Shauna Gallagher for organising the training and continuing to support our participants.
