Restrictive practices in healthcare refers to the implementation of any practice that restricts an individual’s movement, liberty and/or freedom to act independently without coercion or consequence.

Restrictive Practice training is aimed at Healthcare professionals and employees. The aim of this training training is to develop an awareness of what restrictive practices are, why they are used and more importantly identifying alternatives.

The goal is to create an environment that is free from restraint or that minimises the use of restrictive practices.

Hypothermia is caused by prolonged exposures to cold temperatures.
When exposed to cold temperatures, our body begins to lose heat faster than it is produced. Lengthy exposures will eventually use up our body's stored energy, which leads to loss of body temperature.
Low body temperature affects the brain, making you unable to think clearly or move well. This makes hypothermia especially dangerous, as a person might not be aware of what is happening and therefore won't be able to do anything about it.

Candles may look pretty but they are a cause of home fires. Remember, a candle is an open flame, which means that it can ignite anything that can burn.

IF YOU DO BURN CANCLES MAKE SURE YOU...
πŸ”₯ Always use a candle holder that is sturdy, and won't tip over easily
πŸ”₯ Ensure candles are out of reach of pets and children
πŸ”₯ Never leave them unattended in a room
πŸ”₯ Place candle holder on an uncluttered surface, it at least one meter from anything flammable such as curtains, furniture, cards or decorations
πŸ”₯ Only use in rooms which have a working smoke alarm
πŸ”₯ Blow out all candles before going to bed. Avoid using candles in the bedroom.
πŸ”₯ Think about using LED candles in your home. They look real and are much safer!

STAY SAFE THIS CHRISTMAS...

πŸŽ„ Use surge-protected multi-gang extensions and don't overload them

πŸŽ„ If using lights outside check that they are designed for outside use. They need to have ingress protection (IP) and a CE safety mark.

πŸŽ„ Have outdoor sockets installed by a registered and competent electrician.

πŸŽ„ Do not run cables through doors or windows as this could damage the cables.

πŸŽ„ Do not leave lights on in an unoccupied building or when you are in bed.

πŸŽ„ DO NOT TAKE ANY CHANCES WITH ELECTRICITY. REPLACE DAMAGED EQUIPMENT.

πŸ‘‰your child has had a dry nappy for 12 hours or more or shows other signs of dehydration
πŸ‘‰your baby is under 3 months and has a temperature of 38Β°C, or is older than 3 months and has a temperature of 39Β°C or higher
your baby feels hotter than usual when you touch their back or chest, or feels sweaty
πŸ‘‰your child is very tired or irritable
The spread of bacteria can be reduced by good hand washing, especially after coughing and sneezing, before preparing foods and before eating.
