This is the page of the Cycle Response Unit (CRU) of St John Ambulance Limerick City Division. The CRU is a special unit consisting of highly trained Emergency First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians operating specially equipped response bicycles to rapidly reach the scene of a medical emergency. Cycle Response Units are becoming increasingly popular in EMS (Emergency Medical S
ervices) systems around the world, due to the bicycle's unique crowd penetration ability. In crowded or pedestrianised areas, or at large public events, a trained and equipped Cycle Responder can reach the scene of an emergency significantly quicker than a team on foot, or a large vehicle such as an ambulance. Cycle Responders undergo extensive emergency medical training, and additional cycle training to ensure that they operate safely and effectively while on duty. St John Ambulance Limerick is a volunteer division, dedicated to providing the very best level of care in our community. The CRU is the latest tool in our mission to serve the people of Limerick and surrounding areas.
