Stephen Olwell Opticians is the new name for Supersavers Opticians, Longford. Established in 2009 by Stephen Olwell FAOI, we offer spectacles and contact lenses to suit every style and every pocket. Eye examinations are free for PRSI workers and medical card holders. We have a popular 'cost price' contact lens scheme to rival internet prices. Laser surgery consultations are provided here in conjunction with Optilase Laser Eye Clinics.

After taking a few weeks to settle into our new home, we are officially having our grand opening! 🥳
Saturday, August 30th from 4pm - 7 pm. All welcome, bring a friend and we’ll provide the bubbly 🥂
We’re taking names for our raffle draw that will take place on the night with lots of wonderful prizes to be won! ⭐️ Bespoke varifocal and single vision lenses, frames of the lucky winners choice, Maui Jim sunglasses, vouchers from some local favourites and more! 🎁

We’re here to dutifully try out all the newest trends and report back to you 🫡
At the moment, vivid coloured tints are ALL the rage. All the celebs are wearing them from red & orange, to yellow & blue. Indoors, outdoors, night & day.
Amy chose an upswept cat-eye frame from the new , paired with Zeiss Clearview lenses with the Urban Orange tint and a protective sun coating 👏

Back to School time is just around the corner! ⏰
As your kids grow, change and develop, so do their eyes. Whether it’s seeing the board or reading, writing & studying for hours each day, their eyes are under a lot of strain over the course of each day 📚
Whether it’s junior infants, junior cert or college, it’s never too late to start the routine of minding your child’s eyes 👀
So while you’re scratching out jobs on the list to get them ready for school, don’t forget that all-important eye test ! 📝

After a hectic 2 weeks in our new home, this news was such a boost for our team. An honour, as always. We are so lucky to do what we do, call it ‘work’, meet all you incredible individuals day in, day out. Top 20 Independent Stores in Ireland- we’re at a loss for words. Congratulations to everyone who made the Top 20, including here in Longford ❤️

Kai picked up his first pair of glasses and isn’t he a smasher 🥹 He’s wearing a NanoVista indestructible frame 💙
Olive picked up her 2 new pairs of progressives- both high index Essilor PAL in a stunning combo of Kaleos Sun glasses and LA Eyeworks 😍
David picked up his new Vanni with Essilor single vision, along with the forever favourite from Entourage of 7, Beacon 😎
Lastly, another fabulous job - we have a Zeiss 1.74 lens in a classic Salt frame. With a +8.50 prescription and super high astigmatism- this dispense looks incredible!

He wears Zeiss 1.6 Drivesafe single vision lenses 🙌

Hi everyone! Please note from today, we’re closing our temporary location above Ward’s Pharmacy.
We will be taking next Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday to close the practice and get our new home ready. We will open the doors to our forever home on Friday, July 11th at 10am. Please be aware as we switch locations our phone lines will be lost for a few days- we are hoping to get a temporary number for you to call & reach us. Updates pending!

We’re off again! Just before we put the finishing touches on our new shop, we’re off to Manchester for training to reinvigorate us! 💛 This has been a routine over the last few years that makes a massive difference to our team and fills us with tons of new ideas and inspiration 🙌
We’ll be taking a half day on Thursday, the 26th for travel. Hollie will be in practice on Friday until 2:30pm for all admin, stylings & collections you may need and we’re back testing on Saturday, 28th.

We’re back with your daily reminder to wear your sunglasses! 😎 With the stunning week that’s in it, the UV levels are off the charts- which means your eyes need to be protected! ☀️ Much like our paler Irish complexions that require buckets of suncream, your eyes are just as sensitive 👁️ Sun exposure can lead to a long list of eye problems down the line, such as cataracts ❗️So be mindful and protect them eyes! 🫡

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈
Typically at this time of year, Stephen has commissioned a design or handcrafted his own window display for Pride month. Unfortunately without a shop front to work with, we’ll just have to show up in other ways! We pride ourselves (no pun intended) on being a safe space for all, all year round.
We cannot wait to see all the events take place across town this week thanks to .pride 💛 We’ll be closing up shop at 4pm on Saturday, June 7th, to attend the parade 🌈 See you there!
