Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic will be closed next week from the 23rd of June to the 27th of June. All calls received during this time will be returned on the 30th of June.

We are currently fully booked until early September but our cancellation list is always in operation and we will do our best to get you in sooner if at all possible.

Thank you so much to everyone for keeping us so busy. We will be back refreshed and ready for the busy summer ahead.

A brilliant service locally

Longford Social Prescribing Service aims to help people who live in Longford to improve their overall health and wellbeing through connecting them with activities and supports within the local community. This is a free service and is available for anyone aged over 18.

Nothing in life is permanent so let's apply this fact to our foot health issues too ⬇️

I have had numerous patients in clinic lately who have said the following things:

"I have had my corn removed before but it has come back"

"My hard skin keeps coming back"

"My heels get dry when I stop using the cream"

"My nail keeps growing back and causing pain"

"Why can't we just take out the root of the corn?" (Spoiler alert: corns don't have a root)

"My feet look different to how they once did"

"Can I just straighten that toe?"

I think it's so important that we address these thoughts and make it clear that our skin, our nails, the bones/tendons/muscles in our feet are living things and constantly respond to the environment they are in so unless you address the cause of the problem it will always stay there.

It's like anything in this world when we cut our hair - it grows back, when we use braces to straighten our teeth - we need to wear a retainer at night to keep the results, when we build our fitness - we need to stick to our exercise routine in the long term to maintain that level of fitness, when we use blood pressure medication - we need to take it daily to keep it in check, when we wash our car - it will get dirty again as we drive it, if we wear glasses - we need to use them to improve our vision.

Foot problems are a real pain to contend with but with regular care, correctly fitting shoes, protecting the skin barrier they don't have to impact your life.

A wonderful evening spent in Spice India to wish one of our fab receptionists, Cath, all the best as she finishes up her time here in Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic.

Cath and Sinéad joined the team in July 2022 and I am so grateful to them both for the support, hard work and dedication they have both brought to the table. Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic wouldn't be what it is without the super work they do everyday.

I think you will all join me in thanking Cath for the brilliant job she did during her time here and the kindness and empathy she brought to the role. Wishing you all the best for the future Cath - you'll be missed.
