Heart Month: Managing your Stress for a Healthier Heart
Stress is a normal part of life…… but when it becomes constant, it can take a toll on your heart. Chronic stress raises blood pressure, disrupts sleep and increases the risk of heart disease. This month, commit to showing your heart a little extra care by managing stress in healthy ways.
❤️ Stay Connected – Talking with loved ones, sharing laughter, joining new groups, increasing participation in social activities and accessing supports that can helps you to reduce emotional strain
❤️ Move Your Body – Regular physical activity helps release tension, lowers stress hormones and strengthens your heart
❤️ Breathe and Pause – Taking a few pockets of time for yourself every day can help you to reset from stressful situations. Try deep breathing or short mindfulness breaks a couple of times a day. Even two minutes can calm your nervous system and reduce stress
❤️ Sleep Well – Quality rest restores both your body and mind. Aim for between seven and nine hours of good sleep each night
❤️ Set Boundaries – Manage demands on your time and energy by learning to say no to things you know you shouldn’t be tolerating, prioritise your tasks, and carve out time for yourself.
This Heart Month, take one small step toward reducing stress. Your heart will thank you for caring for it.
