This post is to highlight the importance of regular foot checks.

This healthy patient attended the clinic in May 2024 for a routine podiatry appointment. During this appointment our podiatrist Maureen noticed a darkened mark on the skin of the patients 5th toe. No pain/trauma patient was not even aware of anything..

Referral for further investigation, happened to be POSITIVE for a CANCEROUS MELANOMA.

The toe was removed along with three lymph nodes, the lymph nodes thankfully came back negative. This patient is currently undergoing immunosuppressive treatment but living a happy, healthy life and grateful for their podiatry appointment!

My point is we get our teeth & eyes checked. Hair colours regular, facials, botox whatever else and rightly so.. but do you get your FEET checked??

Something so simple can be so LETHAL...
