Happy 1st May from all at Precision Nutrition

1st May celebrates Ireland's ancient Celtic festival of Bealtaine and summer's arrival.

People would gather around sacred fires, engaging in rituals to bless the land, livestock, and community for a prosperous summer ahead. In addition to bonfires, Bealtaine was a time of joyful revelry and connection with nature.

Robbie and Helen recently visited a dairy farm in Kerry to have a look at the overall approach to the farm, looking at cow’s and soil health, grazing and silage management.
They also had a look at the cows post calving to assess body conditions before AI - working with the farmer to assess how calving went and things to change for next year - checking calves and replacements for weight targets
And finally Robbie digging into the soil to see the differences in soil activity and microbiology diversity across different part of the fields

The cows are out day and night and performing well on grass. Butterfat and protein is doing well. Glad to get cows out from a lameness point of view as well, a bit of digital dermatitis, so good to get them out of house. Attention on nutrition and focus shifts to fertility and AI has started.
