Play Therapy is an intervention that allows me to work with children through mediums of play. A therapeutic relationship is build with the child and at their pace they begin to work through the inner difficulties we cant see. it is a non directive approach and is a no talk therapy. the child has the choice to talk or not and they are reasured it is there choice. Most children are unable to put into words what it is that has made them feel sick or angry for so long. This is why play therapy is such an effect intervention. I have worked with families for 18yrs now and for 13yrs i worked from a directive approach coaching and teaching families positive parenting and interacive skills and appropriate social skills. When i trainned as a Play therapist using the non directive approach I withnessed great progression in children with anger management, self esteem, bed wetting, improvement in school socially and acedemically within in a relatively short period of time. I have continued to withness this progress over the past 5yrs including using Floortime with children on the Autistic spectrum improving social interaction, eye contact, emotional connection and effection, sensory processing difficulties aswel as speach and language. Yvonne is trainned as a social care worker, Play therapist, seasons for growth facilitator, community addiction studies and a clinical creative play and art therapies supervisor. I am in the process of trainning as a Play therapy course director to provide trainning here in Ireland. please do not hesitate to contact me for any further enquiries.
