Saying goodbye to this super cute human 💙
Like his siblings, he was born safely at home 🏡
He had his mum and dad, extended family and two midwives greeting him when he landed ( not all in the same room 😉).
The HSE/CUMH home birth service facilitates healthy women with normal pregnancies and our guidelines are there to keep everyone safe.
Community midwives give one to one care, from the day you book until 2 weeks after the baby is born!

Hopefully, she will protect my mothers and babies (and me ) for another year 💝

So many challenges ahead for our home birth service again.

The most dangerous coming from an unexpected part of the community
where every kick in the teeth, every dismissal of our expertise is delivered with a smile.

Unnecessary risks are taken and great harm has already been done....with, undoubtedly, more to come.

So, for the first time ever, I'm asking St Bridget to protect us from people who are unqualified imposters and don't understand the ripples of their actions 🙏🏼

Haven't been on here for a bit but wanted to wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas and Happy New Year.
This has been a very busy year and I'm revising my workload for 2026.
The CUMH home birth service is very well established but there are new challenges emerging.
Freebirth has come to our shores as well ( the American version) and I'm asking everybody not to confuse
HOMEBIRTH with Freebirth!
I'll give you my opinion on it soon.... too disheartened for now.
Anyway, this too shall pass and I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who put there trust in me and our service 💖

Waiting for Autumn babies 🍁🌿🍂🍃

Much bad news all around us, so it is important for me to be grateful for what I have and what I have become🍁.

I'm shedding a few leaves 🍃🍂🍁 but I'm still going strong and getting ready for new beginnings 🐣

Our homebirth service is going through the same changes ...but don't listen to the old ...dare I say ..chestnuts 🌰🐿️🤦 that our service isn't safe!

National and international evidence shows it is and this women centred safe service is here to stay.

Best news for now is that we have expanded our team 🥳 and west Cork women will keep their choice in childbirth for hopefully a long time yet🍁🍁🍁🍁🌿🍃🍂🍁🍁🍁

Please put this i your diaries. The Maternity Strategy has NOT achieved better choices for women. The same bias exists when it comes to home birth and/or midwifery led care. Wide areas without options. This needs to be addressed.
