I am very excited to introduce the newest Therapist to join Niamh Lynch’s CBT & Mental Health Centre, Lisa Cook ☺️
My name is Lisa Cooke, and my introduction to counselling and psychotherapy began 10 years ago when I completed various ‘taster’ courses. I went on to achieve a diploma in qualification in counselling and psychotherapy and subsequently a BSc Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have approximately 3 years’ experience in counselling clients of all ages dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, panic attacks, family conflict and addiction.
I am an integrative therapist with my main focus on person-centred therapy, which I view as a collaborative approach between myself and my client. I also provide CBT and DBT therapeutic approaches. Together, we will find an approach that works for you and fits your individual needs.
I will provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about any issues. When working with me, you can expect warmth, attentive listening, empathy, and sincerity as we navigate through your struggles and help you achieve your goals.
The pace of sessions is set by my clients, giving them the space and time they need to express and unpack unwanted feelings and emotions. Emotions are perhaps the most important tools we have as human beings for guiding our lives in a manner that is authentic and fulfilling. Rather than avoiding and/or defending against our emotions, therapy offers the opportunity for them to be welcomed, examined, and ultimately embraced through the safety of the therapeutic relationship.
Life is often unpredictable, involving experiences beyond our control making it hard to move forward. However, by learning to process and understand these negative experiences, an opportunity for growth and positive change is possible.
