What is osteopathic manipulative treatment like? Osteopathic techniques can be categorized into structural and functional methods, each addressing the patient’s needs in a different way.

✔ FUNCTIONAL TECHNIQUES aim to enhance body function to positively impact structural elements and include:

🔸 Cranial Osteopathy: These techniques use gentle pressure to release tensions on the cranium, palpating the motion of the bones and the subtle rhythmic pulsation of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), correcting disturbances throughout the body.

🔸 Visceral Techniques: These techniques work on the internal organs and the surrounding fascia to release restrictions and improve organ function (e.g., bowel constipation, stomach reflux).

🔸 Strain-Counterstrain: This method involves passive body positioning in a specific way to relieve pain by reducing strain on affected tissues.

🔸 Fascial Unwinding: This technique uses gentle movements to release restrictions in the fascia in order to restore good elasticity and circulation.

Osteopathic techniques can be categorized into structural and functional methods, each addressing the patient's needs in a different way.

✔ STRUCTURAL TECHNIQUES focus on the musculoskeletal system, applying a force against the restriction in order to correct it. They include:

🔹 Soft Tissue Techniques: These involve manual techniques of the muscles and fascia, improving circulation, and alleviating tension.

🔹 Articulation Techniques: These involve gentle and repetitive movements of joints to restore their normal range of motion.

🔹 General Osteopathic Treatment: This holistic approach integrates various techniques to restore balance and function throughout the body.

🔹 High-Velocity Low-Amplitude (HVLA): This technique applies quick and controlled manipulation to specific joints to improve mobility and relieve pain.

Follow for part 2: Functional Techniques

How osteopathy can help during wound healing?

1️⃣ INFLAMMATION During the inflammatory phase, OMT focuses on gentle techniques such as lymphatic drainage and lymphatic pumping. These techniques can help reduce swelling and improve lymphatic circulation, thereby facilitating the elimination of toxins and promoting faster healing.

2️⃣ PROLIFERATIVE In the proliferative phase, the goal is to promote the proper arrangement of collagen fibers and facilitate tissue repair. Indirect techniques can be beneficial during this time, as they allow for the stimulation of the tissue without overloading it.

3️⃣ MATURATION In the maturation phase, OMT can be used to further improve the functionality and mobility of the affected area. This phase is characterized by remodeling of scar tissue, so osteopathic techniques aim to enhance joint mobility and restore muscular balance. The use of stretching and strengthening techniques can help ensure that muscles and joints work synergistically again, allowing for optimal recovery.

If your child is having leg pain, this is for you ! 👇🏻
———————————

5 reasons why children suffer from leg pain

1. A restricted body : It can happen that an old trauma pattern makes growth process harder because they maintain restriction in their body. These restrictions can be due to previous injury or birth tension.

2. They are mouth breathing: a child that is mouth breathing should never be ignored. Mouth breathing children tends to get more tired due to a lack of oxygen in the muscles and in the neurological system. They making extra effort to perform a physical task and to focus.

3. They are not strong enough: a high physical demand = high muscle activation. Tiredness can be due to a lack of strength.

4. They are not sleeping well: a disturb sleep physiology = taking a long time to fall asleep or/and waking up during the night.

5. A body who is not able to rest: commun childhood sickness and repetitive infection can tired their system and makes harder to recover.
