As East Cork’s Funeral Directors, we are honored to support families in times of loss.
One of the most heartbreaking situations we encounter is the loss of a child. It’s a grief no family should ever have to face.
This May, I will be travelling to Nepal to take on the Mount Everest Marathon, the highest marathon in the world.
The challenge will involve summiting Island Peak at an altitude of 6,189 metres and then running a full 42 kilometre marathon from Everest Base Camp the next morning.
My goal is to raise €6,189 - one euro for every metre of altitude reached.
I am undertaking this challenge in aid of the CUMH Neonatal Unit at Cork University Hospital, who provide extraordinary care and lifesaving support to babies and families during the most critical moments of their lives.
As funeral directors, we walk alongside families after unimaginable loss. Supporting organisations like CUMH helps ensure that more families receive the care, compassion, and expertise they need, when it matters most. Anything we can do from our end, we will do - we are always there for the families who place their trust in us.
That’s why this challenge means so much to me.
After completing the second-highest marathon in South America - La Paz, Bolivia two years ago, I found myself wondering what the highest marathon in the world was. Now I feel incredibly motivated to take it on - especially knowing it can help the babies and families who rely on the care of CUMH.
