Empowering Kids

My name is Shama Kaur. I am a Kundalini and Kids Yoga teacher. I have been teaching yoga to kids and adults in Ireland for the past three years. I started practicing yoga when I was 19 years old sporadically but it wasn’t until I found Kundalini yoga back in 2012 that I really understood the positive impact that yoga and meditation can truly have in our lives.

In 2013 I was introduced to Radiant Child Yoga, one of the first and most well known training programs for children's yoga. And that was it! I fell in love with the whole idea of helping and empowering kids through yoga and meditation. That idea turned into my work, my mission and one of my passions!

My classes are one hour long where I combine different techniques and activities such as exercises, breathing, yoga games, relaxation, mindfulness and meditation. For me it’s not about postures (asanas) or teaching a child how to do a head stand but about using all these tools to become more conscious of body awareness, kindness, confidence, being thoughtful and how they can control their emotions, while having fun. It’s about helping creating calm, confident kids that one day will become calm, confident and content adults.
