Sincere condolences to family and friends R.I.P🙏Ger❤️

Keane (Mitchelstown)

On March 18th, 2026, peacefully, in the loving care of his family and at Mallow General Hospital, Gerard Keane, ‘Highfield House’, Knockagarry, Mitchelstown.

Predeceased by his parents Alice and Mikey Keane and his sister Kathleen Mallon.

Loving husband and best friend of Joan (nee Coonan).

Sadly missed by his loving son Seán, daughters Imelda, Debbie, Alison and Geraldine, their mother Eileen, his step children Melinda and Patrick, Seán’s partner Amy, son-in-law Tony, brother Mike Fan, sister Bridie (O’Dywer), father-in-law Michael Coonan, Auntie Sheila (Martin), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren Dylan, Elise & Rocco, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May Gerard Rest in Peace.

Reposing at The Chapel of Rest, Baldwin Street, Mitchelstown, P67 DX81 on Friday (20th March) evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Reception into the Church of Mary Conceived Without Sin, Mitchelstown for Requiem Mass on Saturday (21st March) at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Brigown New Cemetery.

This weekend the Kilkenny Open took place. Two club members, Dara McNamara and Eva Horgan travelled to compete

Both represented the club fantastically and we are very proud of them

Dara McNamara made history winning his first ever Open at only 20 years old 🏆

We are delighted for him, first of many!

🏃‍♂️ Run Against Cancer 2026 – Ballylanders, Co. Limerick 🎗️

A great community event supporting a very important cause is coming up this May.

The Run Against Cancer takes place in Ballylanders, Co. Limerick on 24th May 2026 at 10:30am, raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Participants can choose from:
🏃 5K or 10K distances
⏱ Official chip timing
🏅 Finisher medals for all participants
🏆 Bespoke trophies for male & female winners in both races

The event is happening one week before the Cork Marathon, making it a perfect timed run for anyone preparing for the marathon or simply looking for a personal challenge while supporting a great cause.

Niamh from Second Nature Wellness in Mitchelstown is hosting a Teen Wellness Retreat at the Firgrove Hotel — a day focused on connection, confidence, and wellbeing.

The day includes:

Could your community be the next home of a pump track?

Ballyhoura Development, supported by the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Fund, is commencing a process to identify communities across the Ballyhoura area interested in participating in a scoping and assessment initiative for the potential development of pump tracks.

This project is being led in partnership with Outscape, who are the appointed consultants working with Ballyhoura Development to guide this process.

This meeting is the first step in inviting expressions of interest from communities wishing to consider developing a pump track.

Sincere condolences to family and friends. R.I.P 🙏Catherine❤️

The death has occurred of Catherine Mullins née Brennan, of Glenatlucky, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork and formerly of Ballyhemon, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny.

Passed away peacefully on Saturday 7th March surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness which she fought bravely, in the tender care of the exceptional staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.

Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Edward Brennan and her infant son, Shane.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband, Pat, children, Sabina and Pádraic, grandson, Rían, son- in- law, Tom Henchy, daughter-in-law, Eleanor Power, Sisters, Mary Maher, Olive Doheny and Gretta Power, brothers, Paddy, Martin, Noel, Leo, and Canice, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and the extended Brennan and Mullins families, her friends, neighbours and colleagues in both Moorpark and St Vincent de Paul, Mitchelstown.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.


Reposing at The Chapel of Rest, Baldwin Street, Mitchelstown, P67 DX81 on Wednesday 11th March from 5pm to 7pm.
Funeral Mass will take place in The Church of Our Lady Conceived Without Sin, Mitchelstown, P67 FT73 on Thursday 12th March at 12pm. Followed by burial in the church yard cemetery.
